A bit like city Somerset chucked away a couple of points against lesser teams and now sit at the top of the cricket championship .... well done on a fine season another sporting achievement for the WEST country even if the final result is second!

Can't believe Somerset have never won the County Championship.....hope for heavy rain at Lords tomorrow and if Yorkshire and Middlesex draw,

My brother Dave (Rodney) will be believing. P.S. He looks like Nicholas Lyndhurst, hence the Rodney.

Yorkshire were destined to finish 3rd so and I thought gave up and just slogged in the hope lost 4 wickets in 8 balls for 4 runs

Somerset were destined to finish second.
Many many times through a season county captains get together, usually because of weather, to contrive a result.
Middlesex batters were fed rubbish to get a score that Yorkshire would chase and not shut up shop if they lost wickets.
Tough this time on Somerset but their players knew their goose was cooked before play yesterday.

It was always unlikely when both sides who could win were playing each other as a draw suited neither of them

It's been a good season for Somerset and they can build on it.

The influence of Rodgers in red ball cricket and Jayawardene in the one day stuff has been massive - what great role models to have working with the younger players
