It doesn’t seem like football clips/stuff fit properly in Smug's ‘Things that aren’t worth….’ thread so here we are:

I will tell you what I hate. Footballers who cut holes in the back of their socks. Wasters. As a bairn I had one pair and mam would darn them for years.

Oh aye, and anything other than round studs need banning.

A great night. I was on exercise and in the NAAFI at Thetford Training Camp when this game was on. The NAAFI was packed. I guess it’s one of those events that for a certain demographic you will always know where you were and will remember in detail.

England's best game during Italian 90.
We're pretty dire during the group stage, and got out of jail against Cameroon....a real let off.
The Belgium game, Belgium should have been out of sight really, Schifo hitting the post twice. Again, got a bit lucky with Platts last minute winner.
The Germany game I thought England were class that night, still wonder how they never won that.

Playing like we did against Germany, I think we would have beat Argentina in the final.

I was serving with the UN in Cyprus at the time. We were invited around to our mates (Trev and Caz). After the penalties she was in bits, I mean we were all pissed off but she was visibly upset, couldn't stop crying. Really surreal experience.

Funny thing afterwards, Trev showed us the episode of him and his mate winning a car on Bullseye....not a night I shall forget for a number of reasons.

Another thing I cant get my head around. When you go the match why do folk watch it via their bloody mobile? I was at the England match last weekend and loads were doing it. Atmosphere was brilliant second half, non stop singing, but some seemed to want to film us all having a great time, rather than join in.

I can't believe we missed that chance against Argentina when it was 2-1 in 1986. They never show that. Again, reckon we had a great chance of winning had cheater boy not done us over.

Wasn;t it a brilliant headed clearance, rather than a missed chance? I assume it's the Barnes across/Lineker header you are talking about?

The greatest game I have ever seen.

That Brazil team are my all time favourite stylistically. I have never seen a better side on the ball ever.

No matter what happens for the rest of England's tournament, either we win the whole thing or go out tomorrow and this isn't me being petty or precious, but the press and media have been nothing short of disgraceful about the England team. Up there with 90. Openly taking the piss out of Southgate, moaning about the players. Talksport, the only and unrivalled station for Euro coverage for both England and Scotland inviting ex foreign players and managers on the show then slag off and take the piss has been a joke. Last Sunday absolute radio played a couple of England song's, one in particular was 3 Lions 98, had the opening to the song as usual, crowd chanting, music starting and for some reason had cut out "The crosses of St George are flying all around me,Gareth Southgate, the whole of England is with you". Why? Yes,if they really wanted to cut any negatively, by all means cut out the "Oh it's saved" coms of the song. Bit of a rant there but it's pissed me off all tournament. You look outside and you wouldn't even think England were at a major tournament.

Anyone recommend somewhere in either Seaburn or the town to watch the match on Wednesday?
