Hideous title for a thread, but that's what it's about.

Sheff Utd maybe looking to re-employ Ched Evans in the coming months. Is this correct, he has served his time? even though given 5 years in 2012, so looks like half a sentence really.

Bramble got cleared, but if he was found guilty, would you have wanted him back? (forget the fact he was ****e)

I'm using him as an example for the thread, but could also apply to any convicted rapists...

Anyone got any views, or not bothered?

    .....................................................................................

Almost 60,000 people have signed an online petition urging Sheffield United not to re-employ disgraced footballer Ched Evans.

The striker is due to be released from prison in the autumn after serving a sentence for raping a 19-year-old woman.

Campaigners say his return to Sheffield would send out a damaging message about rape.

Speaking exclusively to Sky News his girlfriend says he should be allowed to return to professional football.

Jurors found Evans guilty following a two week trial in 2012.

The Prosecution argued that when Evans had sex with his victim in a hotel bedroom she was too drunk to consent.

His friend and fellow footballer Clayton MacDonald was cleared of the same charge, but Evans was given a five-year sentence following a unanimous guilty verdict.

He will be released in October after serving half of his term.

I wouldn't want him at Sunderland either. But on the other hand if he did any other sort of work could you stop him. What if he were a plumber, electrician etc and was going into houses alone with women?

I don't believe he raped her, he has just been naive.

I'd never pork a girl who has had too much to drink on a one night stand, it's just not worth it. Few of the lads I served with got the same treatment, all because the girl woke up the next day and found out she was used for a quick jump and that there was no chance of anything more, they feel used and worthless (even though it's their own fault) and they cry rape. Not every time but it happens.

Bramble's just a proper thick bastard, probably a bit forceful and a bit of a heavy **** so it feels like rape but let's face it, even though he looks like he's had a nasty fall he's still minted to **** so I doubt he'd struggle to put a genuinely sober bird on the end of his pole legally.

I think the annoying thing is that somebody like him can be potentially earning thousands a month and can be paid from the hard working earnings of football fans. If i were a female Sheff Utd fan i'd feel disgusted by it. There's probably Sheffield United Fans who have suffered at the hands of sexual deviants that must be feeling physically sick at the thought.

If he want's to get back into football then let him **** off back inside and play for a prison team.

Has he reformed his ways, does he truly regret and has apologized for what he did, in person?

Not sure how you can measure or assess that, but if he is back on the pitch I'm sure he will get so much abuse from fans it may be too difficult for him. He'd probably rather he was an ambiguous sparky somewhere.

I don't know the circumstances so my opinions are somewhat subjective. However, I find myself having conflicting thoughts over this one, where on the one side I feel like I wouldn't want a convicted rapist anywhere near my club, but on the other, he has served his sentence as judged by the state, so why should he be denied employment and therefore face further punishment...To be honest I can't make my mind up at the moment..

This was a woman who was sober enough to give consent to one, but to drunk to give consent to the other who went for sloppy seconds. Set up I hope her parants are proud of her.

See that plymouth keeper who killed members of family when drunk driving is playing and been made captain. I would be going nuts if I was part of that family. find it totally immoral.

Problem with this is, and I've said it on another thread is that if he's going to be playing for a league one team and banging in goals then from a Sheff Utd perspective you'd much rather he was doing it for you than against you. If Sheff Utd don't sign him then you can bet your mortgage that one of Bristol City, Mk Dons etc will secure him on a contract.

If Ronaldo was convicted of the same crime and Madrid terminated his contract are you telling me you wouldn't want him at Sunderland?

Edit: For the record I wouldn't have a problem with Newcastle making a signing with a criminal conviction, based pretty much on the fact that I'm as fickle as the next fan and if a player if going to be performing for a club in the same league then I'd much rather it be my club.

Your right.. football supporters can be very two faced and fickle. Some Newcastle supporters actually forgot the abuse that they gave Bobby Robson.

So you denying the abuse he got? I'm sure it says Sunderland at the top. I think you've clicked on the wrong board.

I am probably gonna get slated for this but here goes anyway.
If one of the lads got off with rape and he got prosecuted there must have been some real dodgy evidence for him to have been convicted.
What was she doing with them all by herself in the first place and she must have agreed to leave with them unless they physically carried her to where the incident happened.
I just think it was a girl got carried away with the pro footballers, she agreed to have sex then turned the tables on them, probably hoping for a payday.
I might and could well be wrong as there is no smoke without fire but that's my view on it.
Ok I am ready for the battering.
