<peacedove> Highest paid women footballer can earn up to £60000 in a year in UK.
In United States they can earn up to £M1.
Is there equal opportunity for certain profession?
Eniola Aluko: 'Women's World Cup will rival men's tournament'
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32976876
Other profession i.e. Law , Accountancy, Engineering are known to have women in their fields, women are complaining of getting rough deals.
Certain jobs reward men better than women even if they are doing the same job.
Where are equal opportunity Laws and legislation.
Watch out men women are coming to get you !.

    nah... f this.

    this is all about market

Women don't watch women playing football, don't pay for sky sport for it and don't go to games.

If the womens fa cup final is played in front of 15,000 people then how can it claim big wages.

Obviously in Us ther eis a bigger market and more available cash

you can say equal work but ffs.. get real world.. theres a big difference between discrimination and lack fo demand.

Who is walking about serena williams today when nadal and djokoivc are going at it thats the real reason the money is less in tennis too.

I hope this doesn't go the way of tennis, with equal prize money - when no one watches the womans final of wimbledon, the talent is severely lacking compared to the men and they play far fewer sets (meaning they can play in the doubles too).

I also hope that soon they can have a seperate "woman football" section. The amount of crap articles i've "back clicked" out of because they misled me into thinking it was about footie, when it was actually about womans league, or "LFC women"...

Ditto, no one wants ot watch women's football, well almost no one :D The money is just not in the game to be justifying the same salaries as the male sport. Just more femtard moaning

There is an issue in other professions, but lets be honest, they are accepting lower wages for the same work, don't ****ing accept it then, demand the same pay or say "**** off"

The truth is companies run by WOMEN pay women less than men too

Read half the article and felt i wasn't going to spend any time on it anymore. Aluko is so clueless going on about how first it rivals the mens world cup and how getting 27,000 fans in China was a huge number. Maybe in the womens game.

As for the Alex Morgan gets to earn $2m (she is yummy though) that includes endorsements. Womens football in the US has a far bigger demand than in England ergo you earn a lot more money. You don't get US footballers complaining how they are paupers compared to the footballers in the UK. If their is demand for womens football, they will earn money, it is that simple. Someone out there would make the money if it was there.

It's not just about how many sets each gender plays, they aren't paid by the hour are they?

Interestingly while nobody thinks men and womens football should receive the same prize money, while the mens PL winners get £24m, the womens PL winners get nothing! FA Cup winners men £1.8m, women £5,000.

What's the TV money and Sponsorship deals like in the Women's game? I'd say drastically lower.

besides with football, who gets paid what is down to agents mostly. If female players are not happy with wages, go talk to your agents ladies. Much of what male players get is down to their agents and importantly the player's ability.

The longer players are playing, the longer the viewers watch, the longer the sponsors get air time - and thus the more they pay into the winnings kitty. So only fair men get more in tennis, plus the fact that the men's tennis draws more tv viewers and larger attendances

To be honest, isn't even more sexist giving equal money for different tournaments (one is mens, one is women). To make it equal and fair surely the Women should be playing in the Mens tournaments. That way only the best players get paid the best money.

Prize money is equal across the board now in tennis. I think Wimbledon was the last to hold out on it. I didn't know womens games were less attended than the mens though.

I know. My comment is that "equal" prize money is not actually fair. and the attendance is lower, and much much much less expensive ticket prices.

Does that not all depend on what the competitors of the day look like? <whistle>

To be fair to tennis, the womens and mens tennis opens are broadcast as a collective and the entrance fees are to both mens and womens tennis so you can sort of see why they had to have equal prize money even if they do not play as many games or as long.

However football have separate tournaments, separate entrace fee tickets and separate sponsorships for separate competitions. To have equal pay on that is just stupid

Do you not think if there's a prize pot, regardless of how that pot was accumulated, then the winners of each final should get equal? It's the same tournament, same number of rounds, same difficulty in opposition. How do you encourage females into the sport without equal pay out for what amounts to equal output. And I'm someone who isn't in favour, for example, of women refs in mens football. I don't see that as equality of opportunity, I see it as trying to establish something that doesn't need establishing in the sport.

I thought ticket prices were per day not per match and both men and women matches are played on the same courts on the same days.

    Re women's tennis.

Pre Federer when it's was same as mens tennis was dull. As a result women's tennis was watched as it was better.

Now women's tennis is poor and the men's game has huge interest for last 5/10 years due to top 4 players being so damned good.

    Simple as imo.

Women's kickback can go grow itself. It's at non

Viewership can easily be improved, though it means a drop in the quality of actual football. Maybe ditch the ball and put some mud on the pitch <whistle>
