The only player, good enough to be wanted to everyone at a certain point in his career, that I can think of that stayed LOYAL to his club no matter what - Is Steven Gerrard. Literally... are there any more? Maybe Cahill for Everton. I'm talking recently - not thinking TOO far back here.. maybe people that are STILL playing. It's dead.
Although you're not wrong consider that he's: 1) At one of the best clubs ever and is highly paid, why would he have any reason to leave? 2) He's still young. Let's see if he's still at Barca 5 years from now if/when they're not as dominate. But yep, I have a lot of respect for Gerrard, despite him playing for such a foul club.
It died when Campbell ****ed spurs over after 2 years of lies to join Arsenal. Only then it was ok "cos he left to join winners"...we were told to get over it and accept that it was his right to do as he chose but now the shoe is on the other foot all gooners are going into one. You laughed at us for hating campbell's behaviour yet look how you have responded to Nasri (left and won the prem), Cole (left and won 3 prems, 2 Fa Cups, and CL) and now RVP. All of those left to join winners...sound familiar? There's no point whining when you've benefited from the same lack of loyalty in the past....you just have to accept that it's their right to do as they chose!
Depends how far back you are talking? Recently as in PL era, Adams, Bergkamp, Keane, Shearer. Currently, who knows? I think Wilshere is loyal, but he may **** off in 3 years time for all we know. Cahill would leave if a big club came in. Gerard was on the brink of leaving until the scousers threatened his family.
Neville? "good enough to be wanted to everyone at a certain point in his career" I would've said Giggs to but he technically didn't start at Man Utd... so I don't know if that could be considered loyal. Scholes is one of the greatest midfielders of our time but I can't remember any other clubs trying to bid for him at any point in his career.
There is a slight difference in terms of the quality of the sides at the time though. Spurs were a mid-table side, not even getting in the top 4 and europe. Arsenal are a top 4 side and have more chance of winning the league / CL. But apart from that you are right.
We'll see if Man City don't get their mits on him. Sporting director Walter Sabatini explained: 'If Daniele came to us saying that he wanted to leave, or is a club offered an amount we can't refuse, it should be considered. 'That is not to say we would give in to Daniel, but at least we would talk about it. 'Roma cannot be detached from the reality that the movement of players may be necessary for survival' Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...light-join-Manchester-City.html#ixzz23iZHuSBA
You may not like Neville (not many people do) but in his day he was one of the best full-backs in the world. Giggs has spent his entire senior career at United, and joined them at junior level. Also he's been with them for over 20 years, I think that counts as loyal. Scholes could've played anywhere he wanted! The criteria was "good enough to be wanted by everyone" (which I took hypothetically) and stayed loyal no matter what. These players fit, IMO.
I think perhaps Hangeland could fit here too. There was a lot of interest a couple of years ago and he's still here.
Please. Nevillie was good, but he was definitely not world class. You have to be seriously deluded to think that. I'd agree with Giggs in that respect then as well as Scholes... the point being, I can't remember their loyalty being tested at any time so I don't think they fit the criteria the OP has posted.
Yep Shearer the man who turned down man U at their pomp and joined his boyhood club, the man who then stayed there for the rest of his career and the man who took over as caretaker manager to try to stop them getting relegated.
So do you only count loyalty as being important if the the ****ed over club is not a top 4 club? And Arsenal have no chance of winning the League or CL...I ain't wumming but seriously do you honestly think that you are going to win either? since your last trophy you have lost Fabregas, Henry, Flamini, Cole, Adebayor, Nasri and now RVP...all have won trophies and left to win them AND get more money...3 have won the champions league, 2 have won the spanish league, Adebayor won the spanish cup, Flamini won trophies in Italy I think, Nasri won the prem and Cole has won all the trophies possible in England ... even Campbell (who was given a free transefer by wenger cos he was gonna go abroad) won a trophy after leaving. I see no difference other than this time it's you being the victims of disloyalty.
