Just seen this article - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tball-League-block-Joey-Barton-loan-move.html

QPR have attempted to get round Barton’s 12-game ban by loaning him to a team outside the Barclays Premier League. His 12-game ban would then be served quicker because of the volume of matches played by Football League teams.
But the Football League said a move to a club outside the top flight would not be in the spirit of the game and would bring it into disrepute.

I read that they were free to loan him out but he wouldn't be allowed to play for QPR until they had played 12 games, so bit pointless really

Not in the slightest bit surprised, it was almost inevitable such a move was likely to be blocked. The rules are now likely to be amended to close the loophole that currently exists.
