Chairman has said they need a better option to get them promoted. They are currently 4th, 5 points off second place with arguably 3 bigger clubs in the top 3 positions (2 x sheffield clubs and Charlton) They have a 9 point buffer betweem them and falling out of the play off positions. WTF!

in all fairness it's clearly not a footballing decision. I walked away from my job last week when on paper it was a great job and I was earning well - the manager was a crook though so that's why I resigned, the staff didnt get it - so you just don't know what's gone on behind the scenes.

Hope you have got yourself sorted with something else Lancs.
On Clarke - it had better not be a footballing decision. If it is then 98% of managers should be sacked!

you only need to speak to a few huddersfield fans to realise what a reckless manager lee clark is. he has wasted the biggest transfer budget and wage budget outside the championship, is tactically naive and an abrasive influence around the club. he should have done infinitely better than he has done - don't be fooled by his record! he's not a good manager <ok>

Sorry Supers but cant agree. I havent spoken to any Huddersfield fans so cant say I have any real knowledge but the games I have seen they have played brilliant football. They may have spent a decent amount but they are in a good position so you can hardly call it mis spent. The fact that he distanced himself from other clubs seems to make me think he hadnt had many problems with his own board and that others rated him highly. A game in hand and only 2 points behind the team in 3rd is hardly the sign of a badly performing team.

He had lost 3 matches out of his last 55 in charge. My god we have lost more than that in a month on more than 1 occasion recently!

trust me on this, you won't find many huddersfield fans who wanted him in charge. they were practically begging him to go to leeds earlier in the month! ask the leeds fans too - they know all about his reputation and they are desperate for mick mccarthy instead. i think that says it all...

Just looked on this Huddersfield forum and it would seem that Supers is right

    http://downatthemac.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=65208

However, they seem to think they will get automatic promotion now. They made the play off final last year and looked odds on for the play offs again. Think they have just shot themselves in the foot, big time. He has never signed a player over £1m and you are talking about a 900k profit on transfers not a loss!

if they get grayson i think they'll go straight up to be fair.

i don't really watch them much though i do have some friends who support them and they absolutely hate lee clark. they have been fed up with him for some time and how the media depict him to actually be good when in their opinion he is piss poor gets on their nerves like you wouldn't imagine. from the outside looking in its easy to look at results and think he was doing a wonderful job but he really wasn't.

the vast majority of terriers fans are no doubt over the moon today!

Having read those 5 pages it is definately more mixed then I would think but also some of them appear to be slightly bonkers. Maybe I have been lucky enough to see them on decent days but his style has seen him linked with bigger clubs and his transfer record is also impressive. Lancy - on top of his transfer profit, dont forget he also has one of the most highly rated young strikers and keepers on his books.
Maybe he isnt right for the job, maybe he was totally inept but some fans really need a reality check on their club size and status.

Completely illogical. From a football point of view he's done a great job. They play neat, entertaining, attacking football, they were nowhere when he took over and now they're flying high.

What he may have done off the pitch no-one has made mention of but I've seen them a half dozen times this season and they're a very good side.

Exactly and it was Clark who signed Rhodes for next to nothing and takes credit for getting all those goals out of him too.

Not sure what his personality etc is like but signings he's made seem very good. Roberts, Ward, Rhodes, Miller, some decent buys for them.

Just seen the report on Look North and it was very much a split down the middle according to the reporter.

He said that there had been 'worrying signs' over the last eight or so games that Huddersfield wouldn't make the top two.

The chairman made a declaration that nothing short of a top two finish and a target of 100 points would suffice this season, so it looks as though it really was a footballing decision.

Leeds United were two points off the play offs a few weeks ago. Getting rid of Grayson and a couple of games later the gap has widened and they're losing to Coventry.

I think this will go down as a mistake comparable with the mistake Preston made a couple of years ago!
