https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46948286 Will Lovell's next excuse be that our new pitch is diseased - or cursed ? (( I think somebody uttered the word 'Macbeth' )) ( in our case it would be McCammon ) -- don't groan - I'm trying hard to entertain you (( and I'm not even on the pitch ! )). So far, this season, SL has made several excuses for the appalling performances in our home games. Lovell, and Mr. Scally have, more than once, blamed the fans ! ..... I'm fairly certain that I the only time I have actually controlled the match ball, is when it has been 'skillfully' booted into the GRS ! I read comments in other forums (( I don't add mine - I do that only in this one )). Many people share my thoughts............. The blame has nothing to do with the fans. Football is in the 'entertainment business ' ( it is not a registered charity ). Fans pay good money (( upfront - )), and we expect to be entertained ! We know that the 'actors' will have an occasional 'off day' - but they have been ' forgetting their lines ' too often over the last 2 or 3 seasons. The ' Director ' doesn't appear to be doing a lot of directing (( not whilst he stands silently with his hands in his pocket at the side of the stage )). He isn't helped by the ' Producer ' who is happy to take money from the public - but not to invest in thespians with a bit of quality.......... Then they wonder why the fans throw rotten tomatoes at the cast when the show flops. I read comments from an increasing number of fans who have stopped going to matches - because of the lack of entertainment. Other fans state they will not renew their season tickets next year ! For my own part - up to now I have said that I don't necessarily mind if Gills lose - provided the players give 100% effort -- but -- on Saturday, I lost my sense of humour and stormed out of Priestfield in the 47th minute (0-3). I did the same ( at 0-3 ), at the Doncaster game. I was disgusted by the 100% effort being given - either by the players or Lovell ( whose hands must have been lovely and warm in his pockets ) (( and he was in no danger of getting a red cad for celebrating a goal )).......... and if what I saw was 100% effort, I'd hate to think what 1% looks like. I can have some sympathy for Lovell. His 'actors' come from the local amateur dramatic group - not from the West End set - but even Oscar winners require somebody to ' direct ' them..... and I'm fairly sure that conductors of an orchestra use a baton - not stand there with hands in pockets. ........ Mr.Lovell - your baton, on match day, is your mouth - use it- and point out to the players what to do -- that is your job -- it shouldn't be for the audience to give the performers their ' cue.' Mr. Lovell -do the team have a script ? Do YOU have a script ? Do you know the ' plot ' ? (( is the sub-plot always hoofball ?)). Of course, it doesn't help any show if the players have not been properly ' type-caste ' for their roles. Why would you have budding young talent ( such as Oldaker ), often not even allowed in the theatre - let alone gracing the stage. Why omit to use some of the better actors ( such as RC-C ) - and -as for not using your ' Leading actor ' !!! - I've got a car - I don't not use it - just in case it runs out of petrol ! Mr. Lovell - when fans go to Priestfield Stadium, it is not their job to entertain you ! At the moment, you, Mr. Scally and the team are like a bunch of clowns - a bunch of unfunny clowns. More people will stop coming to your circus - even if it has become a joke ! -- and if a comedian's jokes aren't funny - I'm not going to laugh. Gills fans don't want clowns or comedians. They are not coming to a circus or pantomime. They want ' some' entertainment - otherwise they'll continue to get on your back - and not ' behind you.' I suggest that you all get your act 'together' .............. ...... I will now exit, stage right - I don't know if I will return for your applause ( or to give an encore. ) ,,, as for this forum - don't worry - I'm here all week! I thank you.
I share your frustration always, I see other teams closing us down and forcing errors whilst we appear to stand off and give them space, I see other teams run with the ball and cause our defenders to have nightmares, we on the other hand don't seem to have players with the skill set to do the same. Whether our team are really that much worse I don't know, even in the games we win it is rare for us to look the better team, we rely heavily on poor quality finishing from the opposition, rather than the quality of our own play. I will continue to support the team (I'm too old now from a change) but I do have serious concern for the future. p.s. I often go to Ebbsfleet when we are away and that is quite an enjoyable couple of hours.
Anyone seen the youtube video, where a lad (builder) yesterday never got paid? It was in Liverpool, where a new Travel Lodge had just been built. The lad was so upset he took to a digger and rearranged the interior as well as the exterior of the building. I thought of alwaysright
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-46953987 I caused nearly the same amount of chaos as I left my seat at 4.07pm on Saturday. The builder is lucky - he's owed only £600 of satisfaction --that's only about a quarter of what I waste on GFC each season - I reckon in my time, I could have paid for the whole hotel.
