I`m used to pitching up at the vally no Q to get in have my pie and pint in the north stand upper bar get a ledge to lean on read the programe look at the concourse TV Pre match then take my seat amongst about 15,000 regulars.
Then along comes another football for a fiver gimmick....will have to Q Q and Q some more amongst 10,000 Extra fans many of whom aren`t fans and wont come back till the next promotion of cheap tickets wether we win 1 0 or 10 0 .

    FOOTBALL FOR A FIVER I HATE IT<grr>

It's a bit of a double edged sword, MikeT.

The extra finance for the club is a good thing.
A new 'cluster' of fans is a good thing.
A big crowd may inspire the side to victory (not Exeter, see Chesterfield).

    But...

I get to my seat and find some wally sitting in it.
For ninety minutes I have to listen to a bunch of wallies behind me talking absolute tosh.
The queues for the bogs, food kiosks and car parks (and Charlton in general) drive me to insanity.
The big crowd may inspire the other team to victory (not Chesterfield, see Exeter).

I said the same thing on Charlton Live but the club want success, we all do. So as we made steps forward unfortunately it is one of the downsides, as Ponders have rightly pointed out it is a double edged sword.

Perhaps we should restrict the sale of the cheap tickets to females?

I have a dream of sitting at the Valley with 27,000 female fans :emoticon-0110-tongu screaming ......... no honestly....... once a week I have that dream <whistle>

I have been asked to clarify that I am not Justin Bieber <ok>

Perhaps they are screaming because I am in my Charlton shirt?

You had flu AllHell, you never mentioned it!

Football for a fiver is a great idea, although in Feb when you are 7 points clear at the top of the league, should you need to do it?

The trouble is that those who come for a fiver can either be fans of other local clubs who want a cheap away day or are those who think it will be like the telly and expect to see Barcalona real madrid not Charlton and a team that two seasons ago were BSP.
We haveen doing well up to now but we are not up to the standard of Barca.
However,we may well gain a couple of hundred who will like what they see and will come back and pay full price several times in the remainder of the season and maybe it is just worth it for the fact that we will pick up those couple of hundred who can become true supporters.

The woman next to me today was vile and an advert for never doing this again, yet the old man on the other side was lovely and an advert for always doing this - full report to follow tomorrow!

I had a couple of bum holes behind me. Talked ****e the whole time. One obviously was a regular and a complete know it all. Talked relentlessly. Obviously had a few. And a couple of kids nearby who were clearly missing their x-boxes. Just like being in the prem! Didn't enjoy the traffic.

I'm contemplating buying a season ticket for the first time. I've been coming for years but have never been able to commit to enough games to merit one given work and family commitments. But I've only missed 2 home games this season so I'm taking my own hint. As an ST holder I'd be a bit pissed at all these cut price games when I've already forked out in advance

For some strange reason I was able to get out of the car park super-quick and on to the Woolwich Ferry before 5.30pm. A miracle, no doubt.

You were lucky Ponders. We hung around for a while to let the rush go. Practising for my period on crutches. Big mistake. We park over behind macro and the roundabout was completely stuffed. We tried along past the ferry and it was awful. I'm not one for leaving early and this was a throwback to premier league days.
