âIâd put my money on Wiganâ over QPR in survival race Recent wins over Liverpool and Arsenal have stirred feelings among QPR fans that their team might just stop the slide towards the Championship. But with matches against the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham to come, the Lifeâs A Pitch panel believes theyâre destined for relegation. Unlike Wigan, who the panel expects to draw on their survival experience and beat the drop for a third successive season. The Daily Expressâ Ian Ridley believes itâs too much to expect QPR to keep beating the big names and that they lack the mettle to fight their way clear. âTheyâll obviously take some heart from it, having beaten Arsenal, theyâve also beaten Chelsea and Liverpool this season. Theyâre going to need to do that because theyâve got Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham in their final fixtures. Personally, I think theyâre so flaky that theyâre going to go.â Key to QPRâs win over Arsenal was Adel Taarabt, who scored a stunning goal, and the Guardianâs Dominic Fifield reckons he could be their last hope of survival. âHeâs unpredictable. Heâs that little maverick player who can make a difference. If you keep him content and play to his strengths, he could make the difference. And given that the other explosive attacking player Djibril Cissé seems to have spent most of his time suspended at QPR, [Taarabt] might be the player they rely upon in the run-in.â While a Premier League relegation dogfight is a very new experience to QPR, for Wigan itâs become an annual affair. And because of this experience, The Peopleâs Janine Self thinks Wigan will have the edge over QPR. âIf you were going to the final day of the season and you had to put your money on Wigan and the others who havenât been there before â QPR being a case in point â Iâd actually put my money on Wigan. Simply because, that feeling of survival, only if youâve gone through it before, would you know what it is. And there are decent players in that Wigan side.â
That's where I stopped reading. This man has got to be the worst football journalist I think I have ever come across. Premier League Chelsea v Wigan Sat 7 Apr 15:00 Premier League Wigan v Man Utd Wed 11 Apr 19:45 Premier League Arsenal v Wigan Mon 16 Apr 20:00 Premier League Fulham v Wigan Sat 21 Apr 15:00 Premier League Wigan v Newcastle Sat 28 Apr 15:00 Even the most ardent Wigan fan would surely think they are doomed with these set of fixtures. Blackburn away and then Wolves at home after they won't be easy.
reading that list district i would say one of qpr/blackburn & bolton to join wigan & wolves in championship.
Brilliant! They are full of bull. As they usually get it wrong we must have a much better chance than Wigan!
Again lads, I'm always happy when I hear people writing us off. When you're written off it takes the pressure off and judging by our last few games, it seems to suit this bunch of players. Happy days.
Wigan are the one team I've been 100% sure will go down for about 6 months now, I still don't see it changing. I think they will finish 20th will Wolves in 19th. I had you guys in 17th with 37 points, 2 clear of Villa in 18th when I did the BBC predictor
Wigan can just turn on button and survive can they? ... They are just toying with us all season ... What a bloody cheek. I would love to see WBA Aston Villa and Wolves go down plus Birmingham lose in the play offs ... If not then Villa Wigan Wolves
I want to see WHU lose in the playoffs, then I might just pay a visit to that site where some weirdo fan of theirs has some kind of obsession with us.
It's the no experience of battling relegation that I laugh at, apart from last season that sums up the last few years nicely.
