Hey all, first post so go easy on me! Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on Fonte's fellow CB next seaon. Are we to assume that the Jedi will be used sparingly, with Martin or Seaborne stepping up to the plate (personally I prefer Martin), or a new signing will be bought into the building, via the bus of course. I have heard that Watford are interested in Clarke Carlisle, would he be worth considering? Or maybe someone a bit younger, similar in age and experience to Fonte enabling them to have a good few years together. Anyway, here's to next season, lets hope its a goodun!
Jaidi, however in rotation with Aaron Martin for me, he is just so much more composed than Seaborne - I think martin will have a big future with the club personally
Haha! Do you think there was any truth in that?! Im with you there SaintsFan4Life, think Martin will progress nicely for us, all the attributes are there. Also Jack Stephens is one for the future too, a right back but can play anywhere at back and even def midfield on football manager and touted as the next Ledley King!!
number 1 priority position for me. Martin looks to be good for the future but will possibly need bedding in. A decent quick CB alongside Jose is key. I am not convinced that Seaborne is the one; hope I'm proved wrong. Where's the lad we had on loan, was it Andrew Davis? What's he up to now.
Being ****, apparently. Always thought he was top class for us but I've heard negative things from quite a few clubs he's been on loan to.
well maybe he would be worth a go as he did well when he was here and that was in the championhip. I'll have to look up where he's been sent out on lon. What club is he owned by?
If he'd be anything like he was when we first had him, I'd take him back in an instant. Think he's still officially at Stoke, no idea if he's out of contract or what. Preston fans hated him in a short loan spell there, he didn't do well enough at Walsall and had other disappointing spells. Shame, he had a lot of potential with us.
Originally, I thought this thread was about Pardew's sacking, so I'm glad to be proved wrong! If the Cork deal comes off, he can play across the back as well as in midfield. I don't think Adkins would have given Jaidi an extension so quickly if he didn't think he was fit. I think Martin or Seaborne can also step up. A versatile player like Cork could give us quality, cover and allow more opportunities for fringe players/youngsters than two players. I think Martin and Seaborne can do more than be perennial squad players.
Sounds good to me. Jack Stephens sounds to be a Cork in the making too - having a few versatile players is always nice. I may be wrong but i'm sure I can remember Adkins saying that Jaidi is going to get better and better?! I think it was quite soon after he arrived, and the Jedi has been a beast for us - just wish he was a few years younger!
I had coffee with Jose's partner once (the girl not the CB) The conversation went something like: She: "Is this Coffee or tea?" Me: "What do you want it to be" She: "Coffee" Me "It is then"
Oh god, that goal was horrific to watch in the wetherspoons. You could just see what was going to happen...
i was impressed how the tv managed to show it with CMS at full speed and seaborne in a slowmo action replay
My brother sat behind her at the Man Utd game........but he didn't know about the Pardew thing until after the game when I told him
