Reading some of the comments and tittle tattle regarding KEEF'S leaving it is interesting to observe the changes of attitude. Jambo came up with a comment on another thread (ADDYone)giving youngsters a chance. We have to face the fact that we are 10 games in and bottom but NOT IN THE MIRE,justpaddling around the edge with a few others (9 teams) Goalkeepers, I thought DJ was one of the best England keepers (top 10) we have had, After a dozen games last season I rated him 3rd place, we suffered as he was contracted to play all games. We now have 2 and both for different reasons are cr**** DJ should only play if Gherky, also been cra*** but defence doesnt help, is un fit. He has most to learn and gain " AS WE REBUILD" DEFENCE, a total shambles when they conceed they are leaderless, lack concentration and ability which comes from expierince....WILKO GAINING EVERY GAME..but needs an awful lot of jewellers rouge. 2 loanees both with ability, not ours, and young, probably wont get them next season like SC. Niagra doing well, the same comments for WILKO apply. "YOUTHFUL ENTHUSIASM SOON KNOCKED, SO FALL TO PIECES AND CONCEED GOALS" bring on a commander. SO WE DONT NEED TO START FROM SCRATCH?? we blo****well do. Need to settle a goalie, get in a solid defender and pick a defence that will grow with the team, not be here for a few months and go walkabouts after gaining everything for someone else. my future back four:- Ribs, Wilko, COMMANDING EXPIERIENCE, Niagra There are some on here who want the best for BCFC but only have a vision for the season in hand, use loanees etc etc, to stop us falling and getting into the top 6, they dont seem to envisage team building, for maybe 2013/14..our earliest serious attempt at prem WILL SL suddenly say " I LOVE BRISTOL CITY SO MUCH, HERE IS A GIFT OF £100,000,000 JUST FOR PLAYERS" and hope it gets Prem FOOTBALL I dont think so..because that doesnt happen. WE HAVE TO DO IT OURSELVES, ADDY IS FANTASTIC......but £3.5 - £5m take it NM WOULD BE GREAT TO GET RID OF FOR £4m Marv, £1.5m or more take it flog off or just release Skuse Clarkie, although I think he still has something to offer, and a couple of players that are not really good enough for us to go forward but are at present stopping youngsters/others from making their mark We do need to rebuild...Lets start with a manager! and about 8 players less and £8m to spend...£8m shi***** that just about covers the agent fee's!!!
You keep on to everyone that we all think we're managers......but that's exactly what you are trying to be..... It would be down to the manager that comes in that would decide who stays and who goes. I'm sure he would NOT want rid of our best players but to build around them. He maybe a manager that likes to defend from the front, in which case, maybe just a couple of signings to sure things up.. Millen not only got our defence wrong, he also messed things up in midfield (not playing Cisse) and up front.. The fact is...he wouldn't be able to buy or sell until January anyway, so you can harp on all you like. We have what we have (subject to loan signings). If he is any sort of a decent manager, he will know what to do..
Agreed, but whilst we are in the process of the rebuilding let the new incoming broom help to sweep out all of the people on cushy numbers throughout the playing and coaching staff. Only then can we have a genuinely fresh start.
Maybe we could ask Henderson if he would like to come back now Millen has gone? If not I'd give Carey a chance in goal to see if he can cope at this level as at this stage its sink or swim. I don't care that he has no expereince at this level as he wil only gain experience by playing and can't imagine he can do any worse than James or Gerken who both are not worth the wage they are paid. With what we have in defence I would go with: Ribs - Wilson - Nyatanga - Edwards Seems a joke to me that Edwards has not played a game this season as I would rate him higher than the two loanees we have in. (I know he is on loan atm but has option to recall).
Perhaps we should start with playing Bristol City owned players in the back 4 - not sure Spence or McGivern are any better than what we have. After his month on loan has finished why not give young Edwards a chance at RB? WIlson one of the few (only?) good things about this season. We need exactly what we needed back in May - a commanding centre half, a left back and a creative midfield player.
hey its great to have the agreement ( sort of) of visionaries..Angelic andy, seems like your way of thinking is similar to mine..agree with EDWARDS comment, BUT we need a commander in defence, either a loanee, which goes against my way of thinking a tad, but with the possibility he would sign for 2-3 years ( maybe 28 yrs old+) onefor, theres a good dentist in knowle if you have a toothache, you seem to be like a bear with a sore head.... Excuse me, I have categorically stated I AM NOT FOOTBALL MANAGER MATERIAL, WHERE AS I believe on a number of occassions you dropped the word and on reflection after your crusade with KEEF LEAVING that wouldnt be to a high standard! Nice bloke crap manager!!! so got the whole team wrong?? seems then so did 99% of us on here when our "team" selection pretty much mirrored his... got the tactics wrong then? wouldnt disagree, to us he did...but how bad were the team in making the basic errors and especially the defence who week after week were pretty much the same as we put up, and failed to keep them out! .....silly me, there was I thinking we could buy and sell any day of the week! I agree partly in hindsight that loanee's are not good up to a point, which is the crux of my first comment "would be prepared for a expierienced commander" with a veiw to becoming permanent. Im assuming the new geezer will be up and running by Nov 1st and have a couple months to sort out his strategy.........still think as does Angelic get rid of any make weights and undedicated staff...cash in on NM and ady if the price is right...now let me think ..ah yes that would be January ... THAT SEEMS EXTREMELY POSITIVE, I thought the idea was get rid of KEEF and GET IN A DECENT MANAGER THAT KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING PS cant see anything to intimate I am pretending to be a manager...just putting forward my opinions, without malice or for thought.. pps just caught smh comments..absolutely agree train our own players not someone elses
I think a fair number of us Could see that Keef was not a manager for BCFC to progress but put in to stablise us after the farce with Cop-out etc...But as it was the poor bloke was unable to achieve that. I really believe that maybe with a couple additions (that Keef had all summer to sort out) we should finish at least mid-table. You have just agreed on a quote that we train our own players......Well why couldn't Keef think of that?? But hey I thought you said our defenders were all crap?? I also believe with the right formation, (Not leaving him up front on his own) he could get us a bundle of goals. We need to have someone like Pitman up front with Nicky playing just behind.....try to form a partnership. It's no good him up top on his own sending high balls, Anyone in there right mind (apart from Keef) can see that. Yes he has played them together a couple of times but it needs to be consistant. So to sell our top players IMO right now is not the way forward. I still believe that the midfield needs sorting (Cisse for starters) will help matters.......oh yes Keef couldn't work that out either!!!!!!
hey I didnt think, I do.. its ok to have loanee's but what do they add? Steve C last year was an exception, we must never forget that...others NO dedication, soon or end of season 2 defenders who havent done a good job and wont care 2 hoots what happens to us when they go back home are taking place of home grown talent. I missed the first 5 games, it was a shock when I got back and saw the results...read up most of the reports looked at some of the biased forum reports and knew it was going to be hard, my initial veiw was the players were not performing, i still think that is the case...as someone said last 48 hours ...we think we have a better squad than we have. onefor......you are contradicting yourself......WE CANT SELL OUR PLAYERS RIGHT NOW..........its January we can do that, and who is to say what we think is a good player will be in January....could play Steady and Taylo.....become a Galley Garland combo and Hey Nicky you can go fly your kite at Blackburn! Bola cisse could dominate midfield along with skusey and J cr and sorry marv off you go!
onefor......you are contradicting yourself......WE CANT SELL OUR PLAYERS RIGHT NOW..........its January we can do that, and who is to say what we think is a good player will be in January....could play Steady and Taylo.....become a Galley Garland combo and Hey Nicky you can go fly your kite at Blackburn! Bloody lost me mate, no contradiction whatsoever. I said we can't do any buying or selling until January....fact With the right manager he will use the players we have and get the most out of them......I said I also believe with a couple of additions we should finish above half way if not further.
. uuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmm WILL HAVE TO STUDY THIS COMMENT, I'm getting confused....... previously many statements were made...like I took that as being STRAIGHT AWAY, without picking or supervising anymore games, straight away = right now!!!
I give up!!! You are picking minor holes in my comments but still mount to what I have always been saying. Your problem with me, is, You NOW realise that I was RIGHT, back last January warning everyone regarding Keef, not being the right man for the job, you blasted me then on old 606. The rest is history.... The idea is that the NEW manager will come in and assess the situation. If he has done his home work, he will work out the players he would like to keep to build around and those players that would NOT fit in his plans. As we have finally agreed, there are NO players that he can buy or sell now, there is no point in trying to put prices on players that you want out? I'm saying that, players such as Nicky of which in opinion is one of our best players, (if the new manager is a good manager) he will use to better effect than Keef did, and will go on to score loads of goals for us.
I AM DUMFOUNDED WITH THIS IF IF IF THE NEW MANAGER IS A GOOD MANAGER ARGUMENT, WHATS THE POINT IF WE START OFF BELIEVING HE IS NOT A GOOD MANAGER......ITS PROBABLE WE WILL GET STUCK WITH WHOEVER IT IS FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS OR ON A CONTRACT AS SUCH, WILL PROBABLY BE ON MORE THAN KEEF and not only NEED to keep us up but also get us into the top 6....starting off with such negatively is pants. onefor your arguments last January, and for many weeks before Christmas were that he was not the man to keep us in the NPC, But A FEW OF US DID SEE THE PROBABILITY OF US STAYING UP, WHICH YOU CALL BEING BLASTED OR A BIT OF STICK. This season from probably before the fifth game you restarted your crusade, and I am not going to analyse some of your comments and arguments. The fact that most of us at game 6 -7 could see it was going to be a uphill struggle and the likely hood he would move to pastures afar IN THE NOT TOO DISTANT future. I was willing to give him to game 10/12 but I didnt along with many others lambast every other thread ( in fact it was probably 4 out of every5 ) with repetitive red mist rantings of our performances or the managers efforts which ON 2 PREVIOUS OCCASSIONS HAD KEPT US OUT OF THE MIRE. After your amazing prophecy of KEEF is no good, get him out, we need a new manager now, all is doom, you seem to be slipping into a new era, that of negativy, if the new manager is not good and by christmas we are still in the bottom 5/6 W H A T T H E N ? ? KICK HIM OUT AND GET A NEW ONE!
1st of all regarding Keef. When he was appointed after Coppell, I then thought & said the board was cutting corners and HE would NOT be the right man for the job for us to progress. He was given a 3 year contract as an assistant manager initally, but when Coppel left his contract remained the same but the board changed his title from assist to Manager. Back in January I did have concerns of our championship status with him in charge, but that was not the only reason I expressed my concerns. I could see the way he was managing and my concerns were that even if he did keep us up there was NO WAY we would progress further with him in charge. There were excuses galore why he was struggling and I'm afraid I didn't buy any of them. I don't understand why you are dumbfounded..... Because the board were unable to see that Keef was clueless is the reason why we are NOW bottom of the league. I've been non-stop shouting (ask Redprint & Redside) that once we were clear of Relegation last season (cruel I know!!) Keef should have gone and made way for a manager that would help us to progress. This would have given the NEW manager plenty of time, with remaining fixtures and pre-season to get things sorted. I also said that if it was left (which it was) then the new Manager would have added pressure, not only to adjust to the new surroundings, players. set-up etc, but would also a relegation battle. You have to agree that, at this moment in time we are IN a relegation battle.. The board needs to get this appointment right to make sure that BCFC stay in this division........(reasons I have explained on many threads) When the board appoint a new manager, I along with every other City fan will back their Judgement. But; If we are still bottom at Christmas and the manager is struggling with ideas etc, I can assure you I won't be the only one that will start hounding the board.
Last season I was very vociferous regarding our position in January and why, even more so after a run of about 7 games we had actually got 3 points..to my surprise. I knew then that things would get easier, we had more home games than Away coming up and the opposition was more to do with the teams around us, and as I forcasted, much to the dismay of the out brigade we climbed clear and was safe not with just 4/5 games left but with 10/11. WE all know we play every team twice, and each matchday a different one. I was able to be so vociferous that we would NOT go down in February because I look at what is coming up, not next match but 6 or more in front, not just for us but teams maybe 5 above or below, or as now and then the 10 teams or so above. (granted teams can improve or demisewithout warning but thats football, allways assume there is "form" ) Cant disagree we are bottom played 10 got 6 points, would have hoped for 12 or more...the reason I was looking at 12 games before crying off with his head we should pick up good points from the next 2. Relegation battle, the TEAMS once again total collapse has screwed us a bit at BPool...1-0 would have been good! @ -12 goals we are a bit isolated. I never really consider goal difference, after all it is only worth 1pt. BUT-12 so early..ooooooooooops WE are in the zone and we will have to "battle" our way out. On the next 3 match days there is only2 " derbys " involving the bottom 7. I am looking at 4 points from 3 games BCFC=10pts thats where watford are now. THEY COULD LOSE ALL 3, DONNY COULD GET 1PT, fLOREST FLY THE COOP ALONG WITH POMPEY , COVENTRY LOSE ALL 3 AND MILLWALL POSSIBLY GET A POINT A 3 POINT GAP COULD APPEAR ABOVE THE BOTTOM 4! last year City played 11 w 1 d 3 L 7 goal diff -12 .......... BUT NONE OF THE BOTTOM 3 WENT DOWN!
