After Dick Advocaat kept their club in the Premier League, Sunderland supporters were desperate for him to stay and carry on next season. Initially, the Dutch boss said it was impossible, joking that his wife would divorce him if he stayed in the job - so loyal Mackems were delighted when he did a massive U-turn and announced he would be staying after all. Tom Sproates was one such Mackem - and Tom realised who needed thanking for this wonderful turn of events. The lady who relented and made it all possible… Mrs Advocaat. As you can see above, that target has already been well and truly smashed. At the last the count, the fund was swiftly approaching £2,000. Fear not, Mrs Advocaat - you're not about to receive the world's biggest bunch of flowers. The page states that all additional donations exceeding £150 will be split between the SAFC foundation and a charity of her choice. So, Mrs Advocaat gets a thank you, a charity gets a nice injection of cash, and the world sees that football supporters are often very decent people.
