Football - Fletcher can leave for nothing Manchester United have told vice-captain Darren Fletcher he can leave on a free transfer.
I would take him all day long mate, but I don't think we're in a position to bring anyone in until we offload and reduce the wage bill.
Every team has one mate and I like Fletcher, as you say, a great servant and unsung hero and I'd luv it if we went in for him, I just can't see how we could afford him. Even if there is no fee involved. I think our wage bill is at busting point and we need to offload before we buy. Some team is going to get a good player though.
Not sure if he will regain the form he had before his illness as he was excellent (haven't seen enough of him since to form an opinion TBH) but I'd love him to be coming here. Cattermole in front of the back four and him in front of Catts would be immense!
Fully agree Marcus and for me even if he regains 70% of his form, he'd still be an asset to us. We need someone like him who can put there foot on the ball, look around and pick out a quality pass, we just don't have that at the minute.
I wonder if he'd fancy playing up there, with JOS and Wes Brown. He's still got it in him to play the way he used to, I'm just not sure if he'd have a full season in his legs. Maybe 22-ish games per season. I might be wrong. A run in a team will get him his confidence on the ball back, for sure. A free transfer, probably £30-35k a week, maybe even £15k a week plus pay as you play on top of that, some sort of structured pay deal I'd imagine rather than a flat salary. Worth doing even if you're stretching your wage budget for 5 months before you can ship a few out.
As I say mate, I'd love him to come to us I really would, it's not me you have to convince though. Do me a favour and get on the phone to Margaret Byrne and Co and tell the bitch we need him. If it was up to me, I'd sack a few to make way for him, never mind sell them.
I think hes ****ing ****e like Carrick. Carried in a good team. He'd look a plodder in an average team where he doesnt get 30 seconds on the ball to make a 5 yard pass. Couldnt lace Cattermole's boots. Hes utter ****e.
Alex Ferguson once said he was his most valuable squad member (Scholes had retired). I'd take him in a flash, and as Terry says, might fancy it.
He didn't LET him leave for nothing, he fought tooth and nail to keep him at the club and Pogba was being a spoilt brat, with an ego. No player is bigger than United, so he got told to like it or lump it, and he ****ed off. That season we were neck and neck with City for the league title, losing out eventually on goal difference. He was given a few opportunities and looked flat on each occasion, why should we have risked him any more?
