he could be, convinced there is a 15-20 league goals permiership striker in there, at his best he's class
Sorry but I don't think he fits into our system now. He looked lost last season when he played. He's too slow and not mobile enough for us. Not sure he has the right attitude for it either. He was reportedly telling people last season that he would be away before the season had even finished.
If we sell him now we sell at a massive loss, it's gotta be worth giving him a chance, if he bags a few we can sell for more in January, if we want to,
I'm on the fence until I see him fit and scoring under Poyet's style. His movement scared me last season, he looked lost. He can score goals but can he work with the team? I'll see won't I as I doubt he'll be sold, he modelled the home kit so I think he'll be here.
Looks like he's cut his hair, which is a good start. If he's put an extra shift in then I hope the hard work pays off.
Im guessing we're gona play the same formation next season, and I dont think he plays the lone striker system very well . He drifts out to the flanks too much, so when a balls played into the box hes rarely there. On top of that hes bone idle at times to go looking for the ball.
I think he could be massive for us, a fully fit Fletcher would be a player we didn't have last season!
It's not just fit it's focussed. If he's both of these then he's a definite yes for most clubs outside of the top 6
If he has a brain he'll see his career drifting away from him and wise up. He can either buckle down, learn from Poyet and restore his credibility or drift off on loan to Villa or West Brom. We simply can't sell him unless we accept a massive loss.
If he gets his positional strenghs sorted and stops been a lazy tw@t then we could have a top striker.
Fletch is very much a "fox in the box" type, as such he is top draw, when on form. If Gus can fit such a player into his system, he may just show us what he is capable of, but its a long shot, and I can't see it happening to be honest. My guess is that he will be sold on at a loss, another square peg in a round hole, an all too familiar story in our recent past.
I don't think can, I think you're spot on. We'd have to drastically alter our whole style to accommodate the 'fox in the box' imo. Strikers in our system need to be able to contribute heavily to general play, not only does he need to score but he needs to be to come short, link up play, begin attacks and lay on assists and he needs to be doing this with the ball on the deck, he'll be the central part of a front three that will make runs beyond him, who'll want to work the ball about in close proximity. Our style can't afford a striker who waits for service imo. As good a striker he is, I feel he's not the right striker for this squad.
