Let's avenge the Leicester kids v City kids defeat.
Good to keep going in this cup. Gives competitive football for those on the fringes. But needs injection of 1st teamers, including as options off the bench, as we progress.

U21 sides shouldn't be in the comp whatsoever so I hope they get tonked by the team that draws them.

Any idea what City, Port Vale and Derby County have in common?

The only thing I can think of Andy Oakes, but I'm going to guess it's more obvious than that.

No, less obvious. After the war when England played internationals around the country City Port Vale and Derby planned to extend their stadiums to host them. Boothferry Parkmwas to hold 80,000, the East Stand was supposed to be temporary, the first level of what would have been the biggest capacity stand in the country. . Port Vale was going to be 72,000. For years the teams entered half way up the stand at Port Vale and went down stairs to the pitch, still did in my time, as that was the first part of the development before it was halted.Derby was going to hold 70,000 but never got started. But the San Siro towers were apparently inspired by ones that were planned for it. Then in 1948 the FA decided to hold all matches at Wembley and plans were scrapped. A hood thing in some ways, 3,000 in a BP half the size of that was a sad enough sight
Saw a wooden mock up of the proposed stadium in the boardroom after a shareholder's meeting in the original Action Group days. Urika Peece did as well, as did others.
Wasn't exactly the same as this, an artist's impression at the time, East Stand looked different, a triple tier.

They've not replaced anyone, just been added on to the tournament. There never used to be a group stage to the competition, it was a straight knockout.

Regardless of how well they do, it still isn't right, and it's a slippery slope which eventually normalises them being around the lower leagues, which could inevitably lead to the whole League 3 bollocks happening. I mean, what if an U21 side won it? It makes a mockery of the lower leagues.

Totally agree, it should be limited to teams that have a right to play, rather than opening it up to franchises. I'd rather see more none league involvement if they need to boost the number of teams.

They should let women's teams enter. They could show why they deserve the same as men for playing the game. In fact do it on a winner take all basis and they could clean up.Couldn't they?
