First of all the negatives -

    1. Isak is not a LW, he's wasted out there. Wilson should finish the rest of the season, but Isak will be starting there next season.

    2. I don't know if it was Eddie's fault but I really, really am frustrated with the way out CB's just sprinted forward out of their positions and just allowed Brighton players to waltz through the centre of our defence. They must have been instructed to do so, so Howe got that wrong.

    Postives -

We won. Brighton looked flat and we wanted it more.

    Ratings -

Pope - 5 - Some good positioning to clear the ball from harm, good hands from set pieces, never really had to make a save, ****e kicking.

Trippier - 9.5 - 2 assists, great deliveries into the box. Good defending. MOTM because he got 2 assists, could have had more, great defending, didn't really put a good wrong.

Schar - 4 - Not great. I know we were trying this ridiculous tactic of one CB moving forward into midfield ****e, but he lost his man for the goal.

Botman - 8 - Apart from a couple of bad moments, thought he was quite solid. His last ditch tackle in the first half was as good as a match winning save. If Brighton had have scored that it would have been a different game.

Burn - 9 - Good goal, good defending. But can't quite give him MOTM because I think Trippier had more impact, just.

Joelinton - 7 - Worked hard, good midfield display.

Bruno - 8 - Back to his usual self. More sharp, good goal.

    Willock - 7

Almiron - 8 - Worked his nutsack off, good defending, didn't score, but proved he can be creative also with a nice assist.

Wilson - 8 - At times was anonymous, but good goal and good assist.

Isak - 5.5 - Struggled to make impact at times, was off it tonight. But good play for 4th goal.

    Anderson - 6 - Worked hard.

Not gonna rate any of the later subs.

Pope should be a 6 minimum
Bruno was anonymous for most of the game as well as acting like a petulant twat
Isak should be a 6 as well
Almiron was our best player by a country mile

Nah, our fullbacks had the most impact like. Burn could have had more than one goal, Trippier's deliveries were our biggest threat for a bit portion of the game.

Bruno did a lot of good defensive work IMO, although still off the pace.

Almiron was probably our best player besides the fullbacks.

Pope didn't do enough to warrant a 6/10. He didn't make a save, Botman's insane tackle in the first half saved him and Schar from more pain.

1 - Totally agree once we have a fully fit squad and a few more CM's to pad out the midfield he and Wilson will be alternating.
2 - This was a tactical ploy from EH and the coaching staff and a genius one at that, one of the CB's HAD to step into midfield to go man for man. Front 3 and a CM were pressing the back 5 and that meant a CB had to go to cover their cm's. Was fascinating as we've not really done that before. Did leave a massive hole at the back as you say but it was risk vs reward and we got the reward for it. Brighton refused to go long and tried to play their way out of trouble and our boys did what was asked of them to a tee.

I'm not a fan of Schar and I think last night showed he lacks the pace but can't really fault him it was pretty much the only mistake we made, trying something new.

That's just because you don't appreciate the strength work he puts in , how it benefits the team and his positional work.

It was a very good center fwds performance.

The truth is that a large number of newcastle fans have decided they fancy isak and don't want to acknowledge Wilson ....... he's on 18 goals.... think it's 11in his last 10 appearances plus assists.

Essentially striker isn't an area of concern... Wilson will score goals.

Oh look! You are capable of having a semi-intelligent point of view after all rather than just posting ****e!

I think 8 is a perfectly fine score. At times he was a bit anonymous. He played well, but I don't think he deserves a 9. His performance was great but not outstanding.

Even if you think Almiron was better, Burn and Tripps were both sensational, so it's very subjective I'd say.

These scoring things are a load of **** anyway because if newcastle win its yay everyone was great let's score them highly, but if they draw or lose it's let's say they were all useless and go with 5s at best.

Trippier assisted two goals and set up tonnes of chances with his deliveries and his defending was mostly flawless the entire night.

Burn could have had a hattrick and defending mostly flawlessly.

Trippier’s the only one talking kicks soo that’s fairly obvious.

    Defensively they did their job.

Almiron created many chances, could have scored, defended, tackled, showed passion, ran his ****ing arse off.
