Flavio Briatore gives green light to DJ Campbell deal By Jacob Murtagh Jul 13 2011 2Share Add a comment Recommend DJ Campbell Image 1 DJ Campbell is on the verge of joining QPR after proving a big hit with major shareholder Flavio Briatore. Rangers had a £1.25million bid accepted for the Blackpool striker last week, with Seasiders boss Ian Holloway powerless to stop him leaving the Championship club after the R's triggered a release clause in his contract. Hammersmith-born Campbell impressed Italian supremo Briatore when they met for talks, and the 29-year-old looks set to snub a move to Sunderland in favour of returning to west London. The former Brentford frontman is poised to become boss Neil Warnock's second striker swoop of the summer following the arrival of Jay Bothroyd this morning. Yeah - Marquee signings would show the board's in-tent...... [TUMBLEWEED MOMENT] [/TUMBLEWEED MOMENT] I'll get me coat....
I'd like to sign an ageing Italian leg-end.......................Del Piero Cannavaro just for the hell of it
Another 'doom merchant' present and correct! As Flanman suggests, DJ Campbell is okay but hardly marquee. With interfering billionaires at the helm, people you'd think would know a thing or two about speculating to accumulate, we should be talking about acquisitions a tad more significant than this - especially given the ticket hike. Question for me is what did DJ do to get on the right side of Briatore... ?
As part of the QPR South London Popular Front, I'd have expected Comrade Tooting to know that BrixtonR would never capitulate - well not until the billionaires flash the cash and make us Rs a force to be reckoned with anyway!!
DJ Campbell scored 13 in the Prem last season. That's not too shabby second only to Bent in the English striker category I believe...? Who did you think we would sign??? Torres.......oh sorry bad example. Be grateful for what you have young man. I for instance have a roasted red pepper, vine tomato & pesto on ciabatta for lunch today as I can't get out to Nonna's for a sit-down lunch. Now thats a shame but in mitigation its excellent pesto....cannot complain old chap.
Briatore recognising football talent...? I'm still bloody suspicious. We'll have Eccles taking training next...
Expect shooting at board room level (actually that sounds OK), Warnock to be held hostage by bandits and LR to be demolished to make way for an intergalactic bypass. Just you wait....
Well done to Flavio Briatore. It was him that swung the deal apparently. please log in to view this image This is the green light that Flavio gave DJ. Nobody else offered him a green light like this one. What a deal clincher!
Totally agree WBA2_QPR3 . Cambell and Bothroyd are good signings. I would hate to see us turn into a Man city or Chelsea with money to burn on plastic soulless players. And a great stadium where you didn't need to push and que for a piss. Seats with leg room and enough space for Eamon's bum... No it just would not be QPR...
