Frank Lampard is almost certain to miss this weekend’s FA Cup fourth-round clash at QPR.

The Chelsea midfielder limped off with a calf injury during Saturday’s goalless draw at Norwich.

And a scan has revealed that Lampard suffered a small muscle tear, meaning he is likely to sit out the game at Loftus Road.

Lampard did not travel with the Chelsea squad for a five-day trip to Mallorca but could fly out to join them later this week.

Midfielder set to miss QPR clash with minor calf tear

Chelsea have revealed that Frank Lampard has a small calf tear and is unlikely to face Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup.

The midfielder was substituted before half-time on Saturday as Chelsea played out a goalless draw with Norwich in the Premier League.

Lampard was later seen on the bench with the leg heavily strapped but Andre Villas-Boas stated after the game that he was hopeful the injury was not too serious.

Scans have now shown that the England international only suffered a minor problem and should be available for selection again in the near future.

    Mallorca
Revealing the extent of the damage in a statement on their official website, Chelsea indicated that Lampard would probably sit out this weekend's clash with QPR.

The Blues then face Swansea in the league on Tuesday 31st January and will hope to have Lampard back in contention.

"A scan on the injury Frank Lampard suffered during the game at Norwich on Saturday shows he has a small tear in a calf muscle," read the club statement.

"The midfielder is unlikely to feature in the FA Cup fourth-round match against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday but is expected to join up with the rest of the squad in Mallorca where they are training this week."

We should all end up happy if his dad turns up. Especially Pete Doherty. Hide your wives if his brother turns up though.
