Swansea City will kick off the 2020-21 Championship season with a trip to face Preston North End at Deepdale. Steve Cooper’s side will head to Lancashire on the opening weekend of September 12 to take on Alex Neil’s Lilywhites, who were among the Swans’ rivals for a play-off berth last term. It means the Swans start a season that will mark 40 years since their first promotion to the top-flight at the very venue where that feat was achieved in 1981. The first home game of the season sees Birmingham City – under the guidance of new manager Aitor Karanka – visit the Liberty on September 19. The first South Wales derby of the season is scheduled for December 12 at Cardiff City Stadium, with the return fixture at the Liberty set to take place on March 20. The Swans will end the season with a trip to Vicarage Road to take on Watford. After the opening two games, there is a trip to take on newly-promoted Wycombe Wanderers to round off September. They begin October with a meeting with Millwall at the Liberty, and then return to home turf to host Huddersfield Town after the international break. That is followed by the first of 13 midweek fixtures with a trip to take on League One champions Coventry City, while new signing Korey Smith will face former club Bristol City at Ashton Gate the following weekend. The following week, the final week of October, sees two home fixtures as Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers visit South Wales. The games keep coming thick and fast into November, which starts with a first trip to Brentford’s new stadium, with a trip to Norwich City following before that month’s international break.
its cos we're Welsh innit, although I'm not fussed whilst this "pandemic" still walks amongst us it would be nice to finish the season at home
Studied the opening fixtures and I can see us being 3rd from bottom by end of October. I'm here to be proved wrong.
