Cant think of a worse possible start to the season. I know we've lost on our last 5 visits to Sheff Utd. Cant really see us getting our first opening day win since 2008!

Good start for me as I missed the Sheffield Utd game last year. Time to get a win there. Just sorted my rail tickets. Need to get a match ticket now.
Also got Notts Co in August as well. Looking forward to it already!

FFS <doh> you can always give a good indication how your season will go if you win/lose your first game, and we never ever beat Sheff Utd..

Last win at Bramall Lane was 3-0 on 16 November 1957!

The only other win was in 1910 when we won 4-0.

Norwich got hammered 7-1 on their opening day of the season in league 1 against Colchester. The 1st game of the season is the least important

Anyway I thought our start was alright.

Sheffield utd a (hardest game of the season so its great to get it out of the way first thing!)
Colchester ( should be 3 points)
Leyton Orient (telling you now they won't be the same team next season. They'll struggle and will be bottom half!)
Rochdale ( see how they get on in their first 3 games, could be riding high on confidence or struggling in a new league)
Notts C ( I mean come on.... shouldn't say it but this will be one our easiest games of the season ffs!)

Have some positivity for **** sake! We're in for a good season!

If we did beat them it would give us a real kick to the start of the season
and it can't possibly be as bad a match as the games last season against them - can it ?

Maybe its because our last five seasons have started in such a ghastly fashion that we half expect to be bottom by October - well fear not, dear red friends !

Not the fixture any of us wanted, but it will probably be the toughest away game of the season, so getting it out of the way on day 1 is good in some respects. Just hope it's not a hammering on national TV !!

The last time we got anything there (I reckon) was when we drew 1-1 in the Playoffs (Carl Shutt header) after beating them 1-0 at the Gate (Alan Walsh scored) and that relegated them from the Championship whereas we went on to lose to Walsall or Brentford in the L1 final I believe. They were odd playoffs !
