The weekend for game 2 of the season, City will have to play away because the balloon fiesta will be on meaning we will be at home that weekend. This surely means that game 1, City will be at home and we will be away to start the season. So who do you want to face to kick start the season? Do you want a promoted team from L2? or a team that only just survived relegation who could be struggling again this season? Or a team that got relegated from the championship, to give them a welcome to L1? Or do you have a specific team for a particular reason? Its typical that I wont be available on here until late morning to post details so feel free to do it yourself guys
I don't care who we play first as long as we start with a win and if we can do that I suppose Sunderland would be a team to play, a sort of welcome to the real world of football, where wages are lower and players actually earn their money if they want to succeed and progress
Posh away first up.... tricky, then our bogey team after that and The Chairboys away on the 18th, could be a humid atmosphere over there in Bucks at that time of year !!

5 normal midweek games. Portsmouth, Wimbledon and Gillingham on Tuesday nights at the Mem. Rochdale and Gillingham away on Tuesday nights. There are also a further 4 midweek games that fall on bank holidays, which is Boxing day, New Years day and on the Friday and Monday Easter weekend. Walsall Boxing day away. Burton New Years day at the Mem. Wimbledon away Rochdale at the Mem Easter weekend.
Also, from our first 10 games, we face all 4 teams who got promoted from L2. I know they could carry momentum from their promotion but I would like to think that should be 12 points in the bag right there. However, the other 6 games from the opening 10 games has us against teams who finished 3rd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th, which will all be tricky games. If we can get 17/18 from these opening 10 games, I think we could be on for a pretty good season.
But who are we playing again in pre season ?! With Posh away first up and Stanley thereafter I hope the team will be up to speed because these poor starts that we have had over the past two years have taken their toll at the end game, just look where we might have been if we had gotten say seven points from the first three fixtures. ! I had hoped that they would of beefed up our pre season programme this time around.
Easyjet Quadrupled Price of ticket for Rovers fans going to Sunderland, when people complained they said we always tell people to book early
Sunderland are already looking for loans as cashflow problems mount according to Sky sports news, hopefully they will start life with minus points and then they will really find out what life is like in the real world of league 1. with every team treating their fixture like a cup final the players are I believe going to be in for a shock
We've already spent money and our chairman has said we've got a budget that some Championship clubs would envy (that doesn't guarantee anything), our old chairman wiped the debt on his way out. We are debt free and in the strongest position we've been in for years.
Excellent news CBD, lets hope you do well and bounce straight back, Sunderland are far too big a club for Division 3, just don't expect to get too much though from the Gas, tough place to come calling !
I'm good friends with a Bristol Rovers supporter. He moved up here a few years ago and even had a season ticket for us when we were in the Premier league, so we'll be going to both games together, I would imagine. We've just signed two players today. Dylan McGeouch who was Hibernians players and fans player of the year and made the SPFL team of the year, so he must have something about him.. Another guy we signed is the Wigan left back, Reece James. I know nothing about him, did you see much of him last season? If so, what's he like? I've just seen on the other thread that things seem to be going okay for you guys, so far. Good luck for the season ahead
What I have read about Reece James makes me wish he had come south instead of north CBD a really good player and signing
