Just been announced that Euell, Alonso, Doherty, Warren and Popo have all been released. No real surprises there, although I quite liked the look of Warren in the pre-season game against Welling when he played RB, I thought he was superb. All the best to the 5 of them (especially Jason).
What? How can we release Alonso when he's been so integral to our success?? Such a short sighted move, CAFC really do make my blood boil sometimes. Same situation as when we released Pouso and look what happened then.
I had high hopes for Warren. Somewhere along the line he lost the aggression that used to be part of his game. Pity.
Yes, Super, he's the Alonso who Xabi could have become Am I right in saying Warren normally plays at CM? I genuinely thought he was the most impressive player out of all those who played in both halves against Welling in pre season, though I appreciate you can't judge a player solely on one match. I hope Doherty signs for Wycombe, he seemed to have done well there and their fans 'on 'ere' seemed to love him. Wonder if Euell will go to Wimbledon. Didn't seem to do much there other than get injured, but I know he's a bit of a club legend. He'll probably come to terms with the fact that he's sort of passed it now, and will presumably begin coaching with us or the Dons.
I think Hughes has an extra year on his contract. Pritchard is out of contract, but is currently in discussions. Apparantly there was an option of a one-year increase or something, but the club are re-negotiating because he would end up on a lower wage/shorter contract than they want to give him. Think Mambo is out of contract? Not sure who else.
evening to you addicks ,we will have the doc ,also can we have hayes please, you clearly don't need him
I'd expect the Doc to sign for you guys Rocky. Not sure about Hayes though, he took a big 'step-down' signing for a League One side last summer, so don't think he'd want to play League Two football. That said, I think he should leave, and it would be good if he could fire your lot back into League One
http://addicktedcharlton.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/euell-heads-list-of-5-released.html I've written a short article about the released players, particularly Alonso, if you have a spare moment then please do read it. Constrictive criticism is most welcome.
Very good. I must say, we do have a wealth of writing talent on this board, as well as our extraordinary grasp of foreign languages, literature and musical appreciation...
Not sure I fancy signing Beavon. If memory serves me correctly, he's had a pretty poor goalscoring record prior to this season (and in lower divisions than League One).
I was talking to one of our suppliers today whose Company is based in High Wycombe, he's a Spurs fan but has seen Wycombe at home 4/5 times this season and he said that, in his opinion, Beavon was a very very good player and will be playing at a higher level than L1 next season. He also saw Hayes play for them a couple of times and said that his performances were class with Beavon
Makes sense, he is an Essex boy and wants to live in the south. If only we knew someone close to the situation....
Monarch - "Rumour is that it's going to be Hayes plus cash for Wordsworth." This could have legs mate... One thing I know to be absolute fact is: Paul Hayes will only leave us on a permanent deal for a club that would allow him to continue residing in the Essex area. Colchester obviously fits the bill very nicely indeed. During his spell at Wycombe (which he thoroughly enjoyed by the way) he was put up in a hotel. Limited access to his family during this spell is something heâs not looking to repeat⦠So sorry Rock, itâs highly unlikely heâll be returning. Heâs not the sort of fella whoâs happy to sit back and collect his money whilst not featuring. Although heâs only 28, heâs well aware that football is a short career and he doesnât want to waste it not playing. If the club canât offer him a bigger slice of the action next season and theyâre prepared to release him, heâll be off⦠Providing the right club comes in for him. Whilst I think heâs a decent enough player, I for one donât believe heâll cut the mustard in the Championship. If I were the gaffer Iâd thank him for his contribution and allow him some time to fix himself up elsewhere. Freeing up the wages for another front man to come in.
oh no not col ewe the old enemy, surely my old mate monarch is making that up.well that's the end of hayes football career then.(SORRY MONARCH)
