Five Key Fixtures Posted on June 17, 2011 by robbertheblogger With 38 games to play this coming season one could argue each one is as important as the other. However Blogandwhitehoops takes a look at what we deem to be the five key fixtures H Bolton. Saturday August 13th in 2004 Rangers kicked off their first season back in The Championship with a home fixture against Rotherham which they drew 1-1. The Râs showed a lot of naivety that day by allowing the visitors to nick a point and it made the following few fixtures tense until we picked up a win at Gillingham. The match against The Trotters is a similar affair. A team that most would fancy beating on their own patch, but one which could still prove tricky. Bolton have been there, seen it, done it, got the Premier League T-shirt so in order for Rangers to pick up a welcomed 3 points we will have to come flying out of the traps. Bolton could well be without star man Gary Cahill who looks to be on his way out, playing Bolton this early in the season means they may not have replaced him just yet. A Fulham. Saturday October 1st The sad truth is that Rangers probably wonât record many points against Chelsea this season, we are a world behind them. However our other West London derby appears to be a battle that may be a little closer. After a favorable opening six fixtures this one marks the start of a tricky period for the Hoops. It will also be our first derby back in the big time. We really have an opportunity to put down a marker here and show the fans that this team is something to be proud of. This really could set the tone for the winter set to follow which has the potential to be a disastrous one. H WBA. Saturday December 3rd Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal. All have to be played in the month of December plus a trip to Wales and a home game against Sunderland. The month starts with a seemingly winnable game against West Brom. Woy Hodgson has turned around the fortunes of the boing boing Baggies, however Warnockâs men will be looking to score all three points in this game to ease the inevitable few points picked up against three of the Sky 4. H Arsenal. Saturday March 31 This represents our best chance of claiming a huge scalp in our season back in The Prem. Arsenal notoriously start well before collapsing around mid February. By the end of March they are inevitably a mess and looking to next season. Should they continue their pattern of failure from the previous six years then Rangers will be welcoming the Gunners just as the bottom has fallen out of their season and they start recording inexplicably bad results. Should we be embroiled in a relegation battle this game would not only represent the chance of shooting down a big gun, but also picking up a valuable three points. H Stoke. Saturday May 5th Hopefully it wonât come down to this, but with Tottenham, Chelsea and Man City surround this fixture it provides our only real opportunity of three points from our final 4 games. We can only pray that by May we will be safely tucked away in mid-table and propping up the highlights reel on Match Of The Day. However should we be embroiled in a fight for survival then this fixture really is the easiest of our run in. Stoke are now the quintessential mid table side and one would hope that at this point in the season they would have their flip-flops on and be dreaming of Dubai and Barbados thus presenting Q.P.R with an opportunity to bag some points should we need them!
Well, I s'pose bloggers have to blog something... Completely meaningless exercise beginning with an apple and orange comparison between Rotherham in 2004 and Bolton. Also doesn't take into account our traditional habit of not doing too badly against leading clubs and screwing up games against 'no-marks'.
Is this moron on the same planet as the rest of us? At the moment we'd be lucky to get our points tally into double figures. What a stupid blog.
