Playing this way would be ok if England could put together decent counters. The difference with Chelsea is they had a game plan once they got the ball back! And at the end of the day it all boils down to the fact these players were dead and knackered even before the end of normal time. We were a slight threat in the first half but after that we had almost no attacks. These guys play football for a living yet have dreadful fitness levels.

I think Hodgson most things right other than playing Rooney from the start. The formation and tactics were fine but I think he made a mistake starting Rooney over Carroll. England early on looked quite threatening with crosses when we needed Carroll. Then when Carroll finally got on he got no service, a time when a fresh Rooney would have been more useful linking with Welbeck or whoever. I also thought Theo should have played upfront in extra time with Rooney knackered and Carroll unable to get into the game. In the extra time period our lack of attacks was embarrassing.

Also Ashley Young was terrible since he moved to LM..it's not natural at all for him. He's been great for us recently at SS so it's not really his fault..Hodgson needed to take Young off not Milner..
