Remember JM came in & slagged off Bielsa for over-training his players? (Clearly Karen Carney had his ear!). Remember how leggy our players have been after 70mins this season? Remember how Bielsa's teams were reknowned for hammering at it in the 90th minute, even when 3 up? Fatigue, mental +/or physical, causes poor decision-making, and boy!, how it shows this season. Why are our players knackered after 70 mins? It certainly can't be over-training, but to an average punter like me, it's an easy 2+2=4 to work out that JM is under-training our squad. Can you imagine us trying to play extra time? No, me neither. Am I alne in coming to this conclusion?
A very good post and a question that needs to be answered. The one thing that peed me off was the way the whole media and pundits jumped on “Overtraining” as soon as Bielsa was sacked. Plenty on here also went with that too. However Pricey should be interviewed by Phil Hay or Graham Smyth to bottom this out. Pricey said in an interview that he had daily meetings with Bielsa and they spoke about every player. This included weight, stamina, output and real data from games and in training.he also commented upon the injury situation and said most of the issues are impact damage to tissue picked up in matches. They had very few muscle injuries from training and laughed at the phrase overtrained. So why not talk to him again because in some respects Marsch threw him under the bus and surprised Pricey hasn’t resigned. But WJ is correct, how come our team is goosed after an hour
Don't forget that just about every Tottenham player was involved on Wednesday night with most of them playing the whole match. However as we grabbed late wins against Liverpool & Bournemouth in the 2 games previous I'm still more of the opinion that set up and shape were more the issue yesterday. It's surely no coincidence that Spurs barely attacked down their left flank and focused on their strength wich was Kulusevski down the right. Unfortunately there was no tactical adjustment on our part which left us repeatedly exposed to a top class player who was on his A game.
Ironically we could have done with the Jack Harrison of last season playing in front of Struijk yesterday, he always gave better defensive cover of any of our wingers.
Before ko yesterday I text 64White to say my big worry was Kulusevski playing against Struijk, he's a top class player, against any quality LB. We did nothing to negate that.
I remember his side letting in 63 goals in his 27 games in charge, more than any top flight team. I also remember his side contributing to over 70 yellow cards. I further remember his players turning against him due to his idiotic decision-making. How's your fitness going big boy, you looking forward to the World Cup.
True, but there’s no doubting WJ is right. So many look like they’re blowing out their arses and some never seem to make 90 minutes
