The FA seem to let "owners" of clubs get away worth anything - our opponents on Tuesday night are playing 35 miles from Coventry because of an ego fuelled argument between the club owners (SISU) and the Ricoh Stadium owners. There is a petition sent to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport on this subject which states: Responsible department: Department for Culture, Media and Sport Football is our national game but the interests of fans are being disregarded by club owners and ruling bodies - government action is needed. UK football clubs are not financial franchises: they are rooted in their local communities and are an important part of local identity and heritage. But a new type of club owner is disregarding all that, pricing many people out of the game with inflated ticket and other costs, alienating people by seeking to change clubsâ names, colours and so on. Football's governing bodies are failing to address the situation. We therefore ask that the Department for Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee revisits its work on football governance and illustrates growing problems by undertaking a short Inquiry into one particular club, Coventry City, whose owner has relocated the club from the City of Coventry to Northampton, 35 miles away. This will highlight concerns shared by football fans across the country, and the need for action. Football fans need to stand together - If you want to sign the above petition you can access via this link: https://submissions.epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/59884
I will sign it. Fit and proper is a strange phrase. Steve Lansdown has ran up debts Bristol City cannot repay, and spent in the region of 120 -140% past the clubs income. That is is amongst the very worst financially performing FC's in the UK. The club no longer owns its own ground, and the business plan and asset ownership behind Ashton Vale was never revealed. Good or bad? Unless the FL/FA etc can see into peoples minds how can fit and proper be defined!
Cheers guys - I'm bring a Coiventry fan up from the south coast tonight so he will be pleased. What he does'nt know if that if they win I'm leaving him up in Bristol!!
