Fit and Proper Person: The FA's Role

    I hope this isn't a naive point but looking very briefly at the FAs fit and proper person guidance there's a lot of talk about conflicts of interest and third party influence.

    I'm no legal falcon (actually I know a fair bit about Property laws) but does anyone know anything about this kind of law? I presume RD passed this? Do owners have to sit this regularly?

    Surely if there were grounds for suspicion of mismanagement the FA get involved? Is that what happened at Leeds?

    I vaguely recall things like Doncaster or Darlingtons chairmen getting done in the past but to my knowledge this would be a new area of mismanagement (ie non financial based) and although the guidance doesn't cover owning clubs abroad there are clear conflicts of interest in doing so that need to be addressed.

    With other clubs having similar issues (Watford and even just today Ashley with Newcastle and Glasgow Rangers) perhaps the FA need to overhaul their policies to catch up and wake up to emergent issues with foreign ownership...

    Any comments welcome; as I say I don't really know what I'm talking about!

    That isn't what happened at leeds,
    The fl opened their book of rules that only apply to Leeds United and decided that because Cellino has a criminal conviction he wasn't fit and proper. I have no problem with that. I have a problem because the same rules haven't been applied to clubs like Birmingham.

    As you know, Roland is into politics and formed his own party.

    Now, a politician who's as clean as a whistle? That'll be a first.

    The phrase "undetected crime" springs to mind.

    A man with political ambitions may very likely have skeletons in his cupboard which have not yet come to light. The question this begs to me is: If something were discovered at some time in the future, and he was convicted, would the FA remove his "fit and proper person-ness" retrospectively?

    It ought to be like a two yearly refresher review. Or there should be an option where fans can section the owner for FA review.
