My better half is buying me another Spurs shirt this Xmas and this time I wanted to have the name on the back of all my time favourite player. I can’t decide! I think favourite being someone who I really connected with and was obviously good at football – but I’m not going for the all time best player.

My heroes were really from the Sheringham/Klinsmann/Ginola era (I’m 32 now so 90s was when it all started for me (even though the ladies tell me I look 24, but that’s another article on another forum)).

Then other obvious legendary names like Mabbutt and King come to mind. Modric and Berba left a very sour taste in the mouth – but sheer quality. VdV is a bastard for having such a fit girlfriend but I love him too.

I loved Ginola – his flamboyance, sleek svelte passing and luxurious runs were a joy to behold. He was the Sun Man of the Match every week. Also, Klinsmann for his sheer clinical finishing and being a nice guy off the field too.

For some reason I never quite connected with Sedgley, Howells, Austin, Durie, Rosenthal.

    **** it...I’ll go with BAE.
    Who would/do you have?

Whenever I get a name on a shirt, they leave at the end of the season - so I'd go for Bentley or Jenas.

Probably get beaten up if I had Bentley! Edinburgh was first choice, but can never get the spelling right - what a player he was!

My nephew supports Spurs and wants a shirt for Xmas. He shares a surname with one of your best managers so that makes it easy!
