Aussie-Based Saint here! so after 9 years abroad, I've finally found enough time to return home for a bit purely to see Saints vs Leicester on November 7th. Due to being overseas for so long (The last game i saw was Southampton 3-3 Fulham back in 2005) I have absolutely no idea how to get to the stadium anymore or where to banter beforehand with other Saint fans. So a few questions if anyone has the time! How would one get to the stadium from the Fareham area? Is there any pubs nearby that home fans go to before the game? For a non-ticket holder, do you think a game like this will need pre-booked seats or will I be able to buy them at the gate? Generally, how much can I expect to pay for a ticket against a team like Leicester (Can't seem to find this anywhere on the website) Lastly! Where would I want to sit (stand) for the best atmosphere? After watching nothing but A-league for 10 years I'm craving a bit of proper atmosphere. Cheers and thank you guys!
Welcome back I doubt you'll need to pre-book but better to be safe than sorry and tickets are easy to get on-line on the website nearer the time. You'll probably have to pay between £30-35, individual match day tickets have not yet been released but Leicester are likely to be among the cheaper. You'll want the Northam end behind the goal to sit/stand amongst the louder fans. The stadium is a 10-15 minute walk from the city centre and add another 5 minutes from southampton central station. I'm not a massive drinker pre-match so i will let others recommend watering holes
For your viewing, you may not want to sit behind the goal if its been years since you've seen a game. Block 32-36 is close enough to the Northam to get some noise but you'll see more of the pitch. Enjoy
The King Alfred is good for pre match beer and is right next to the ground. Or you could try The Royal Oak in town, good saints pub.
I'd get the train to Woolston, walk over the bridge, and well you can see the ground from the bridge so no directions needed. You'll come across The Chapel Arms pub on the way and that's always packed with Saints fans.
Agree with this, but you could also use the New Bridge Inn, just up from Woolston Station. Believe they have Sky Sports, so pre-match news or early games to watch.
Chapel Arms have sky sports too, fella. I'd say go to the New Bridge if you want to sit down though, It's not usually as packed out.
