First thoughts on Warnock as manager were scepticle. First thoughts on Hughes as manager are opptimistic. As long as we get good results, then I don't care what his past managerial career has been like.
Yep I know RC, some of us would only be happy if the following happened: MANAGER: Josep Guardiola NEW PLAYERS: Most of Barca/Real Madrid first team + David Silva and Neymar
Sorry to see Neil go but as supporters of the club we owe it to the players and the new manager to get right behind the team in the remaining 18 games and for them to give it there best shot. I think we will go down with our current crop of players unless Mr Hughes (if hes to be our new manager) makes some inspired signings and can produce a miracle. Home wins are essential now. Come on you Rs.
Oh God, I'm agreeing with Col..... This can't be good! But here goes: I'm not going to cut and paste the Wikipedia link that someone posted on the Mark Hughes thread - I'll assume it's been read. He did a good job at Blackburn, who were relegation candidates when he took over, and challenging for Europe through their league position by the time he left. Then he went to Man City, and finished the season with one of the best home records (although one of the worst away records) on the way to finishing 10th, before being sacked in december 09 - and even Mancini said that he would have done as good a job there had he been given the rest of the season (City finished in 5th) He didn't have the best of times at Fulham, becoming a bit of a draw specialist, but in that time didn't have much money to spend (he only signed Philippe Senderos, Johnathon Greening, Carlos Salcido and Moussa Dembele as recognized Premiership players. During this time, Zamora was out for a long period with injuries, and Johnson struggles with his form. So yes, I'd be happy to take him. He should have money to play with, his transfer record has been pretty strong, and he's proven in the Premiership - more so than Warnock was. Also, hopefully he'll have a bit of a network at his disposal of players he can bring in that other managers may not have access to (Samba, for example)
The Jamie mackies of this world are perfect for NW. Not much quality but plenty of ticker. But we don't really want a team full of Jamie mackies do we? We need quality above all else. Hopefully MH can deliver.
