With lots of the other relegation strugglers playing each other and several therefore sure to drop points, getting something against the Swans seems essential.

If we can somehow win, with a home game against Reading to come, we would all start to smell safety and everything might relax a bit. If we lose and put in another negative fearful performance against a team that has nothing to play for, I think the atmosphere at CR will start to turn really nasty.

We've been a bit of a bogey team for Swansea in the PL so far, so I'm hoping that can continue. The fact that they're a better side than us and due a result makes me think otherwise though. To be honest though, ahead of Reading which must be a far greater chance of 3 points, I'd just be happy with a good performance, perhaps a goal from open play, and generally posing more of a threat going forward.

This will be our biggest win, outplaying them with all goals from open play.

A few weeks back I predicted Swansea's season would crumble after they won the league cup and hit the forty point mark so I had that down as three points we should have a very good chance if picking up.
Their form has indeed been rubbish since and they've lost a few on the bounce, however we need to buck our ideas up massively if we want to get anything out of the game based on our own atrocious form.

Nothing to play for?? We are desperate for the three points after losing three consecutive games. Norwich have been our bogey team in the Premiership and we should be aiming to put that right on Saturday. Should be a cracking game. <ok>

Well hope we get more than 5 shots away! Hopefully we can remain thier bogey team and creep closer to the safety line

You've obviously not seen us play in a while.

I think you'll be shocked at how awful we've become. The first half of the game up at your place was probably the high point of our season in terms of performance. Get ready for the low point.

We normally do well against the Swans but the way we've been paying recently a flock of geese would probably hammer us.

That said, it would be one of those games when a 0-0 result would almost be welcome ..... <whistle>

Sorry, but I'm going to have to go against the consensus on this one. Our home form is not dreadful. Our manner of play is not good to look at, but in terms of our recent home form we are 13th in the table, and Swansea are in 18th place on their recent away form. We haven't lost at home since December. Only the top 4 can equal this. On that basis, we should get a point against the Swans, and I think we'll get three. It probably won't be good to look at, unless, like me you rather watching solid defensive, (defenders!), play. I get frustrated at our lack of attacking accuracy, but something is clearly not right at Swansea at the moment, particularly away from home, and we might just capitalise on that come Saturday.

You are spot on GG. I think we will beat Swansea and one other (probably Reading) and get to 40 points. I would hope for a draw as well but can see Villa beating us. Our prospects away look somewhat limited though. Surely QPR and Reading have gone it is a case of just one more - but who? To me it is looking like Sunderland and the Di Canio thing is a circus.:emoticon-0103-cool:

Thanks Thurnby. I had a look at our form and the form of our opponents this morning, and this is what I nearly posted then, got called away before I could:

'Our recent form: ie last 5 home games and last 5 away games is:

    Home 1 - 4 - 0 putting us in 13th place.

We are playing four teams, who on away form, are Villa (9th), West Brom (11th), Reading (15th) and Swansea (18th). On both our home, and our opponents away from, we should win 2 of these, perhaps draw one and possibly lose one (for the first time since 29th Dec). Unfortunately the home game we lose on current form could be Villa.

That would/could mean 7 points from our home games.

    Away form: 0 - 2 - 3, putting us in 19th place.

We are playing three teams, who on their home form are Man City (2nd), Arsenal (3rd) and Stoke (19th, yes 19th). On our away form, we will be very lucky to get anything except maybe a draw at Stoke.

So that could mean 0/1 point from our away games.

This would mean our ending the season on 40/41 points and almost certainly safe.'

I can't believe anyone is predicting a win for us Saturday. I'll give you all a FACT, we are awful and a bloody embarassment and I don't actually blame the players, not one of them. It's down to one man and his dire, negative football. Swansea are due a win plus we haven't lost to them in the PL , records are there to be broken, 4-0 Swansea !

Sorry KIO, that is not a fact , however loud you shout it. The facts are there in the form tables.

Form tables mean nothing at this stage of the season with everyone battling to survive. If they did Wigan wouldn't still be playing PL football. Having said that, our form is abysmal and TBH I can't see where our next goal is coming from let alone win ! Can you honestly say hand on heart that you truly believe we will win against Swansea ?

Hand on heart, I truly believe we can. But then I thought we could beat Man U and Arsenal at home.

Sorry KIO I am with GG on this - Canaries to put in a shift and win, as you say we are certainly due it and I am afraid that the Swans are on post cup slide. We will do it- trust us.

KIO, you're beginning to sound like a troubled teenager who if he keeps shouting the same mantra over and over, it will become fact! How dare you deny someones solid reasoning ,just to spout off your disgruntlement! I suggest you look at carrabuh's posting technique, he puts his views across with sound reasoning to back his claims, he doesn't deny others the right to disagree with him, in fact he likes you to disagree, providing you give your reasons!

That is what debating is all about, not shouting down everyone else!
