Proper horse who surely looks to be one of the FSS to keep on the right side of. PN is it usual for so many 2 year olds to be without stables on the list attached to the story?
Unfortunately Weatherbys won't give out lists of where horses are in training (data protection and all that) so articles like these are reliant on trainer's giving interviews, published Stable Tours and trainer websites to know who has gone where. Even if Weatherbys would provide the details, they are dependent on the trainer's declaring a horse as being "in training", as opposed to still being broken, having a break, etc.
Although he won't appear in the FSS profiles as he is at stud in America, US Triple Crown hero American Pharoah got off the mark with his first runner at Naas over the weekend. MONARCH OF EGYPT obliged by nearly 3 lengths and earned himself a quote for the Coventry Stakes at 14-1. From what I know, Coolmore seem determined to make AP into a turf sire. The calibre of turf mares they sent him in his first season is of the highest order and includes two year olds out of the likes of Maybe, Damson and Virginia Waters. The Racing Post list the following five AP two year olds in Europe to keep an eye out for: Good Fortune b c ex Dancing Trieste (Old Trieste) In training with John Gosden The half-brother to Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf runner-up Giovanni Boldini is owned by Qatar Racing, with the operation's manager David Redvers having paid $800,000 for him at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale last year. Hong Kong gr/r c ex Mekko Hokte (Holy Bull) In training with Aidan O'Brien Coolmore's MV Magnier went to $1 million at last year's Keeneland January Sale to secure this half-brother to star sprinter and popular young sire Caravaggio. Ridwaan b c ex Ridasiyna (Motivator) In training with Mikel Delzangles The French trainer has taken charge of this colt for owner-breeder the Aga Khan, having sent out the dam to win the Prix de l'Opera. South Saqqara ch c ex Global Finance (End Sweep) In training with Aidan O'Brien The half-brother to Scat Daddy's blisteringly fast two-year-old Acapulco was added to the Coolmore battalions at a cost of $300,000 as a yearling. Tiger Touch b c ex Osaila (Danehill Dancer) In training with Nicolas Clement Al Shaqab Racing's homebred colt is out of Osaila, a Group 3 winner at two and three who also finished third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. I am aware of at least one other AP two year old at Ballydoyle and I know Charlie Appleby has at least two in his yard. There are also two American Pharoah two year olds selling this week at the Craven Breeze Up sale.
Today is French 2,000 Guineas and Prix de la Foret winner MAKE BELIEVE (yes I had to say "Who?" as well!)
DUE DILIGENCE got off the mark yesterday. He has not had a profile in the EBN but has been included in the attached roundup which they have put out today. Other British and Irish stallions with first crop runners who are briefly covered in this summary include: ANJAAL CAPPELLA SANSEVERO FRENCH NAVY FULBRIGHT HALLOWED CROWN INTRINSIC IVAWOOD KINGSTON HILL MUSTAJEEB SHOOTING TO WIN ALTRUISTIC G FORCE (sub fertile so only a crop of 8 two year olds) National Hunt marketed sires with first crop 2yos, and who may get a few back end flat runners are: HILLSTAR PETHERS MOON RETIREMENT PLAN SEA MOON SNOW SKY SUPPLICANT TELESCOPE
Today a focus on the American first season sires. Obviously we can only expected to see a small number of their runners over here.
