...and now with Sven, both the former England managers are gone from the Champ. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15438896.stm To be fair this was predictable given the amount they spent in the summer and the fact they're being beaten by Pardew's ex-club and Kazenga's future destination, among others. Shame on Sven, thought he emerged from Man City and especially Notts County with his head held high but it seems the glory days of Lazio and the rest are behind him now. On the plus side, one less obstacle for Hughton (And to those saying "this isn't NUFC-related", look at some of the rest of the tripe on the front page)
Martin O'Neill to go back and get them promoted, winning all the rest of their games. You heard it here first Disclaimer: I know **** all
With the players they've brought in they should be doing better. Martin O'neil to return to Leicester?
Crazy. He would have got them promoted - they should have at least waited until nearer Christmas. They have a great deal of new players and it will take time for them to get used to each other - look at the massive improvement in Man City this year. Some football owners are simply not in touch with the reality of football.
This. Also Sven had them playing decent football, although they weirdly enough didn't play with no real natural out and out wingers. :/ Abe Fernandes King Danns/Wellens.. They had to rely on Koncshitsi and Peltiker(sp) to provide the width, but still they should be doing much better with the likes of Beckford/Nugent/Vassell/Bamba/Mills/etc..
From what my friend tells me about them, they seem to play more of a 4-3-3/ 4-3-1-2 Shmeichel Peltier - Mills - Bamba - Konchesky --Fernandes---King---Abe/Danns-- and then either Vassell------Beckford------Nugent or --------------King----------------- ----Nuguent--------Beckford------- They seem a pretty decent group of players, if not a team yet. I think the main problem has been defensively they only really have Bamba and Konchesky as Mills and St Ledger are prone to mistakes and Peltier is more attacking. Anyway, on topic, this is a crazy decision to make this early! Although now i've said that they're probably gonna win the league!
To give my thoughts: this doesn't top Southgate for most ludicrous sacking, because very little can. If I'm quite honest, given that he's had two transfer windows and Leicester seem to have gone backwards, I can sort of, sort of, see where the owners are coming from on this one. (Think back to Strachan's tenure in charge of Boro, by the end no-one was complaining when he got sacked!) However, he should probably have had until at least Christmas to turn the results around.
Glad we got out of the Championship first time, what a horrible league to be a manager in. Average time in employment is something like 18 months.
Southgate should have been sacked from Middlesbrough the day they got relegated not in October after making a good start to the season..
I agree with people touting O'Neill as next manager. He likes being financially backed but is very good at making long term plans, could see him getting them up within a couple of seasons.
Didn't Sven turn Blackburn down after agreeing to accept the job in 1997. Can't see that being too popular bearing mind they got relegated a couple of years later.
