First concert without my Mum was Led Zeppelin (support - Barclay James Harvest) at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh; early 1970 I think.

  6. Mine is desperately embarrassing. Spandau Ballet at Wembley Arena December 1984. Second was better - Prefab Sprout Hammersmith Odeon.

Alex Harvey (Not SAHB) at Hyde Park Osnabruck 1980. He was absolutely hammered and started a fight with a member of the audience who refused to give Alex his pirate sword back. The manager ran on and started scrapping with Alex too. By this time he was too drunk to continue so the bass player took over on vocals til the set end.

I was working early next day so I left but my two mates ended up backstage drinking with the band, Alex was unconscious by this time and the band told my mates Alex was only touring to make money for booze. 3 days later Alex was dead, apparently of a heart attack. Very sad but a tremendous gig and very loud, I still had buzzing in my ears a few days later.

Well considering the Apollo was torn down years ago id say the Barrowlands is the better venue.
