So what are peoples thoughts on our opening games and early predictions; every year I'm optimistic but it never quite works out that way. I know it's far too early as there will be a lot of activity in the summer, however some points to be had here if we continue on our form from last season. Manchester City (a) 0 - 0 Draw 1 point usually a good time to play a top team, new manager lots of new players, continue like we did end of last season, credible 1 point (or we could get F...IN Hammered) Middlesbrough (h) 2 - 0 WIN 3 points Our new Derby (ish) this will be tough as all promoted teams normally start the season on a high. But we're good at Derbies Southampton (a) 2-1 Loss 0 Points New manager new players but we tend to struggle in this fixture. 10 Everton (h) 1 - 1 Draw 1 Point Used to be our bogey side but slowly we are losing that tag ; this will be tough with the Koeman factor Tottenham Hotspur (a) 3 - 1 Loss I expect Spurs to continue where they left off, we're not getting anything here. 24 Crystal Palace (h) 3 - 0 WIN 3 points A good chance Palace could go down next season . City....A good twatting. 0 points. Boro...A good twatting for them. 3 points. Ston...Hard fought draw. Think they will lose some of their better players..1 point. Everton...got some work to do. But they have potential....draw..1 point. Spurs...Another good season for them....0 points. Palace...They are dropping this season....3 points. I also have 8 points.
They 'left off' with a 5-1 trouncing to recently assigned Championship fodder. Spurs will struggle to keep that side together, they're not big wage payers, heads will get turned for sure. Their fans will deny it though, they're precious like that.
you cant get 17 points, i was gonna narrow it down to between 1 and 16 points, looking for a flyer this term so gonna predict 6 points from the first 6 games.
After the last few seasons just getting a win in the first six will keep me happy, two and I will be dancing on the ceiling!
Very good. However, you have forgotten you're a northern team that isn't Man Utd or Liverpool. If you break the rules in any way you'll probably just be automatically relegated.
A total of six points or above, from our first six games will be a good start as far as I am concerned, and it does look do-able.
Saints away, hard one to call, I'd be tempted to say they'll be in a mess... with Koeman leaving, probably poaching one or two of their players. Last time they had all their players poached many of us ended up with egg on our faces though predicting their demise, including so called 'experts'.
I wouldn't want to lose them all obviously but I just want to see us compete in the first 6 games even if we end up near the wrong end after the first 6. We normally just hold up a white flag at the start of every season so I'll be looking for performances and how close we are to the other teams early on.
Looking further ahead. Jan/Feb. Good chance of losing both Kone and Khazri for a fair while due to the ACN. 2 of our better players missing is a bit of a blow.
