Strange story really, which does raise a couple of questions.

You don't have to "reconfigure" a fire stick, you simply add applications to it, which is perfectly legal - Amazon themselves even provide them, mostly free of charge.

If the story is true, you have to wonder why the guy was selling firesticks anyway - it's a simple, and cheaper, job to buy your own and add those free applications to it.

Who "warned" him multiple times to stop doing it - and why? That's not the way police work.

Mind you - it sounds like he was an idiot for advertising on Facebook...

Probably the best one to use is Kodi, which is really just a media player and needs addons to provide content.

How to install Kodi - https://troypoint.com/how-to-install-kodi-on-fire-tv/

Probably the best addon for football - EPL and Championship but no lower - is Asgard.

If you don’t want to use Kodi, which can be a bit more complicated, there’s an app called Sportsfire which can be installed by itself, not quite as good as Kodi but does show EPL & Championship matches, usually with three links for each game.

And if you just want to stream, this site gives a heap of options - although having never used them, I don’t know how good/reliable they are https://champagne.pages.dev/online-streaming--dl/live-sports/

And, of course, it’s always advisable to use a VPN with any of the above.
