In response to a thread on the Saints board by Channonfodder, here's a similar scenario for you to chew over on the Pompey board.

The scenario is that Pompey finish two places above Saints.

Would you prefer Pompey to have finished 7th (a vast improvement for us and so, so close to the playoffs?

or Pompey to finish 21st, meaning saints get relegated?

Congratulations on avoiding the "them up the road, deckchairs, dark-side of Hampshire" euphemisms, Devo. <ale>

I quite often use 'them up the road' but managed to avoid the temptation, having read your thread <laugh>

I dont care where they finish as long as we stay up and we beat them at least once , probably in our home derby. It seems we are chasing quite hard for these two strikers at the moment , but where is our midfield?<doh>

Very interesting question but one which I could only wish was meaningful. Who knows what will happen, but if I were a deity and did have the ability to choose, then I would choose a 7th place finish for Pompey, and hence a 9th spot for Southampton. I would then look forward to the heated derbies again next season, something which we are all lucky to be a part of.
