i posted a week ago that the police are going to arrest fans around the ground without tickets,a few people were a bit sceptical,well todays chronicle has said not only this will happen, but allso people crossing border checkpoints under the influence will be detained,people from england in the areas of the ground they shouldnt be, will be ejected ,plus the police have the power to ask for photographic I D and if you dont have it you can/may/will be detained for 12 hours,any 1 drunk will be detained thank you for th glorious welcome ,treat people like thugs and guess what they become?

 

I actually said this would happen a few weeks ago, and I was right. I'm so glad I got a ticket,

in the unlikely event you become very very ill on the morning of the match where you staying

Typical OTT amateur policing by a foreign country. Dont be surprised, all the foreign police are useless when it comes to football crowd control and this includes those who should be more experienced at it like Spain, France and Italy.
The football authorities and clubs could help by getting fixtures arranged quicker and ticket details arranged quicker though. Due to the unneccessary delays fans have no choice but to book travel and accommodation before the dithering authorities have managed to overcome the surprise that they need to announce ticket details or the travel prices become ludicrous rip-offs. Then the authorities act surprised that many travel without tickets. Travelling legalling within the E.U. i might add.
Some Large screens and sensible good humoured policing might just help but good humoured and sensible are rarely things mentioned in connection with foreign police especially at football where they are so terrified they just resort to the big sticks for no reason (and not always legally but try proving it).
Not that i condone any hooligan behavior either, i am usually proud of our fans abroad and hope that continues.

 

I'd love to see a Leeds vs Millwall match with that policing style...
