I'm not even down or annoyed about the team, management or ownership at the moment I'm simply as close to apathy as I can ever remember being as a fan. I still don't think we'll go down even though the last few games have been pretty poor overall. We have almost nothing to play for, very little motivation on or off the pitch and a lack of drive.

If we have no incomings this month either players or, more importantly, manager then I think it may be a case of "wake me up when the season is over" as I'm having a hard time getting up for the cause at the moment. I've never really seen myself as a fair weather fan and if we were in a proper relegation fight I think I'd be far more up for it but we aren't, yet. If we get relegated from the position we are in it is simply complacency on behalf of the club - that isn't to say it can't happen!

I assume this isn't just me...

At the end of the Saints game I wasn't angry at the ref cock ups at all.. I just kinda shrugged my shoulders... muttered 'oh well'.. then trudged off home feeling nothing.
There was a time when I~d be pissed off big time but not at present.

    You're not alone.
For the first time in my life i wasn't that bothered when we scored. I clapped but that was it. I wasn't even pissed off that we lost or at the ref. I am getting to the point where i don't care.

I think to be fair to you it is easy to feel this way at present. We managed to skillfully navigate our way out of the cups. We have amassed a good haul of points for a club like ours by the halfway point. We've then lost the manager and went into our usual state of catatonia.

Then you compound it all with a day like Saturday where you run into a progressive club, one which our own fans probably think are doing what we should be doing i.e.not in terms of league position but building, and they do a thoroughly professional job on us. They basically played a tight compact game working on the basis we'd make more mistakes than them. We did.

Personally I'm still up for the games and the season. Largely because I suspect we will get dragged into the relegation fight. However I do think many fans have had their enthusiasm ground out of them over a 10 year period. Yes there has been the odd higher point but by and large the club has gone backwards and then stagnated. The fact this appears to be being engineered deliberately is hugely frustrating for all involved. It might change for the better, it might not. Just got to roll with the punches, sadly we have been taking a few over the last 10 years.

The season is indeed not over, not by a long stretch. I agree on the sense of apathy but if we don't pick up some points up in the next three games we are in serious trouble aboard the HMS Newcastle with an iceberg called 'Horrific relegation battle' soon to be collided into.

The Chronicle (save Douglas) seem hell bent on the **** having the job. Its madness. Day in day out that fat piece of **** Ryder comes out with utter drivle defending him with today's piece with fat Freddy saying Carver deserves the job! How I could just kill a man as the great Cypress Hill once said. It we appoint him as manager we will be playing Championship football next season. Bet the ****in house on it.

Carver is a ****e coach and manager. Him, Stone and Woodman need to **** off. Appoint the prick as manager and we can say hello to the Championship. It's almost like having an inferior Pardew in charge [and he was a pile of piss anyway].

I hope your players and manager have the same thoughts as you depressing lot, we desperately need the 3 points in against you lot (Hull City), in fact a goal would be nice, we've never scored in January whilst in the Premier League. :steam:

    Do not fear.
When a team is desperate for points and we roll into town it's a shoe in that you will take all 3.
Do you have any shot shy strikers who haven't scored for ages?... don't worry... they will be dead certs to score against us.

I noticed Ashley wasn't there on Saturday. Probably still trying to find ways to get his hands on his new 'toy'. The fat ****.

We haven't got any fit strikers at all, but we have a winger/attacking midfielder in Sone Aluko who was played upfront yesterday, but he is definitely not a striker. Although he did score that belter last season against you that won us the game, so you never know. <laugh>

Not helping is that we are in January, which is a bit of a groundhog month for us. Not only are we managerless, we also have the now traditional Newcastle Utd January blues. We don’t buy in January, despite selling at least one key player whom apparently no one thought ahead to have a replacement lined up for, and we all know we will now proceed to stumble across the line come May (hopefully ….) and then everyone lets out a sigh of relief as we survive another season in the PL (hopefully...).

Maybe I’m being a bit harsh, as to be fair, the summer can be varied; sometimes we get a random new sponsor in that no one wants, or we get the stadium name changed to something no one wants, or we get a pre-season routing of the team that no one wants. But generally speaking, although what happens can be varied, you can still predict that something will happen that no one wants.

And then we all turn up at the end of August and it begins again.

It is the predictability that is so depressing, without the current issues on top. It is what will happen this year. We will not buy anyone (I mean, we’ve not even been linked with anyone remotely resembling a footballer that I can see), I feel sure that come the last few days of January we will have the announcement that someone (Sissoko probably) is at X Club to have a medical and ‘oh look, we don’t have time to find a replacement’, Carver will be named manager (as that is being saved up so they can go ‘oh, the transfer window’s shut, we have no time to buy anyone’) and we will proceed to win ugly a few games (hopefully…) that will see us safe but will not inspire anyone to believe we have any desire or ambition to achieve anything other than stumbling across the line each May :steam:.

And on that note I think I should leave. Rant over.

PS: Saved this post so I can roll it out next January.
PPS: Yes this is the same Mrs M who only a few weeks back said that we need to support the team otherwise what are we in this for :emoticon-0101-sadsm :emoticon-0106-cryin.

If nothing else it will make the season a little more interesting than it is now.

It could be a lot worse, you could a be a Villa fan! 11 goals all season and not a single bit of news regarding them. That's worse than relegation in my opinion. It's almost like being in football purgatory, neither hell or heaven.
