I know there are a few posts on the summer transfer activities but this bbc article "Premier League: Finding a bargain like Michu at Swansea" has 8 players listed and 2 are norwich http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23909521
although i like the principal of the article, some players cited aren't what i would call 'bargains'! redmond, certainly looks a bargain on what we've seen so far
Ricky and Redmond are very good buys but it's heartening/worrying that so many fans in the comment section below have also highlighted Fer as a good buy
Fer for £4-5mil is probably the bargain of the summer! Redmond has been very impressive but it would have been considered a risk spending £3mil on a 19 year old so I can see why few clubs went for it. Why noone but us went after Fer is beyond me. He is 3 times the player Wanyama is at a third of the cost. I reckon he could easily be better than Fellaini and he cost Man U nearly £30mil! I hope Fer has 2 outstanding seasons with us then I would be happy to see him go for a nice healthy sum!
I think you are mistaken when you imply there wasn't much competition for Redmond. He himself has said, as has CH, that there was plenty of competition. He chose Norwich because he and his family/advisers believed it was the best move for him at this stage of his career, in arriving at which conclusion the fact that CH is our manager played an important part.
Oh, I thought only Everton were challenging us. Must be misinformation somewhere on my end. I still think Fer is the better bargain though I'm glad we've had so many this window! Exciting times!
I'm personally not sure a freebie should count as a bargain, of course its a bargain you paid nothing.
I think Fer is such a complete midfielder, unfortunately he probably won't be with us long if he players like that all season. He really is a class player and in my opinion, he wouldn't look out of place at United/City. Could be jumping the gun slightly but seeing that Southampton game he was absolutely brilliant.
I guess it's a case of how long he wants to stay with us, but look at the positives - we'll make a tidy profit on him and several of our other signings when they decide to move on. Glass is defintely 'half-full' - maybe even more!!!!
Oh yeah, I completely agree JRFan. Part of reality of being a Norwich fan though, is we will lose players to bigger teams, and you're right we will make a very tidy profit on some of them.
