Financial Fair Play rules

I believe that the clubs will self-regulate this rule.

Plus, if a club has a rich chairman, there are almost certainly ways around this.

Same as at PL level. Can you really see the likes of Chelsea not being allowed to play in Europe because they spend over 100% of their turnover on wages? Same with Barca, Real, Man Citeh.
 
The idea is to stop rich chairmen or benefactors bankrolling clubs. For selfish reasons I hope it works because the scheme is more favourable to Arsenal than Man City or Chelsea. In general terms, I don't see why clubs should spend more than they earn over a long period. Are we getting to a stage where you can only win the Prem by losing shedloads of money ?
 
I agree - I really hope it does work and that it is strictly enforced. Not just because it will mean that Arsenal have more to spend than any other clubs, but more importantly, it will stop clubs folding (hopefully).

Much as I have no affinity for many of the clubs that have gone into administration, it's not their fans fault that the club have been mismanaged. If that club then fols, then those supporters are the ones that will have ultimately lost.
 
Cue the likes of City making monstrous 'sponsorship' offers to their own club from companies owned by the board. Hey presto, they suddenly have more income therefore aren't breaking the rules. A touch simplistic perhaps and maybe said example won't even work but these clubs will look for every which way to wriggle out of it. I honestly can't see the big spenders being affected by this, especially the clubs with owners as stupidly rich as City and Chelsea.

Exactly why I don't think it will work. Although apparently they have looked at things like sponsorship and will not allow 'ridiculous' amounts of sponsorship unworthy of the size of the club.
 
It may not work and loopholes may be found, but UEFA are wise to owners buying a billion shirts and selling corporate boxes for millions.
