I know a lot will disagree with me but i think this is about as far as our club goes financial and ambition wise, RW as now closed the book on anymore cash in put and now solely relies on GT keeping us up in this league with little money to work with, which to be honest so does a lot of other clubs, but to do this we require a youth set up, and i know this doesn't come cheap either, but unless something is done this season we will be relegated for sure. We really do now need to take charge of own club & destiny and have more of an input into the running of it with a fans scheme to generate more cash. the players we have now are pretty much second rate as shown last term, but RW is happy to plod on with the introduction of loanees to stave off relegation...and i think these days will arrive sooner than we think...lets not miss the boat!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23669759

tinned hats I fully agree with you, except rw is keeping the club in the black. it is grossly unfair of the chairman to expect Wonga turner to keep us up on a shrewstring. if this is how life is to be in league 1, bottom feeding , I would rather be taking the fly in league 2 until a few shrewsbury businessmen get together to take the club forward, and I include roland amongst them.
I wish to place on record the enormous debt we all owe roland Wycherley. a little less coarse fishing is required. out with the fly rods. ffffloreat salopia.

Sorry AJ but its us the supporters who are keeping this club in the black through season ticket sales and walk in gate money plus merchandise, all RW is happy to do now is skim his bit off the top to pay for his investment before retirement, and what would a few business men do if they walked into this club?........skim more money off the top?....so if we pay...lets have a say!!
 
As GT said at the Q & A, there is money available but they will only consider buying a younger player with a possible resale value. Obviously nothing has come up. He was out watching an U21 game last night but the player he was watching (Lee of West Ham?, Ugwu of Reading?) played so well that he feels that we can draw the line under that as his performance warrants a first team call up or a higher league club.
 
Whether through buying, free transfer, triallists we have had a poor summer so far. I'd agree that its better for town to buy a 20-24 year old who will become more valuable over time. Trouble us you then need them on a longer contract or 'commited' to the club. Which of these is likely to happen? We have had a bit of luck with one fallen star who we made money on but that's unlikely to happen again. So how do other clubs do it? Good scouting, decent contracts, taking risks, mentioned elsewhere GP created a sales pack?
 
It costs Crewe over a million a year to run theirs, how many do they sell on each season? Admittedly the also fill their first team with these players so must save a bomb on agents fees and also good control of the wage structure.
 
They also steal young talent too, with the likes of 22 year old Mathias Pogba from Wrexham on a free, 16 goals in 41 games...ok so he's out for a couple of Months with an injury, but in real terms its cost them nowt. how come we still aren't picking up young talent from the lower divisions?, i know Crewe and Wrexhams youth development isn't cheap to run but it can almost pay for its self in a few years time... Wrexham have 5 youngsters breaking through to the first team this season! this is cost effective management. if we aren't willing to pay half decent wages or buy players in or not have a youth development program ...then where is our gate and merchandising money going? :angel: Saint Rowland church for the under privilege director maybe...:emoticon-0181-fubar:emoticon-0131-angel:emoticon-0136-giggl
