A really refreshing change from the dire years of Keane and Jewell. Young Jack Marriott tells how he was contacted by TC on the Thursday before the Burnley game. What a great story for the kid and I am thrilled that some of the principles that this great football club was founded on seem to be making a welcome return under Mick McCarthy. It is so difficult not to have a certain buzz of anticipation for the next season as Mick has fitted into the job so well from day 1 and seems to understand and buy into the whole ethos of Ipswich Town. Yes we have had many false dawns but this time it really feels like we are finally heading in the right direction bit by bit Mick is rebuilding this club and not a can of turnstile paint in sight! Young Jack Marriott will feel 10 feet tall after making his senior debut and this will spur him on ever more now for next season. http://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich...arriott_s_life_began_on_golf_course_1_2182088
As you say JWM, it's difficult not to get caught up in the optimism right now. With the likes of Hewitt, Marriott and Mings coming through things are finally going away from the "let's fill our ranks with ex premiership mercenaries" days. Tyrone's story is also a good one. He's gone from being a non league footballer/mortgage advisor to playing pro football at championship level in a year.
