Ok so finally got around to moving across from 606. Almost didn't want to till the end of the season as don't want to jinx anything.

Just wanted to post a question (apologies if this has been posed a thousand times) ......... When...... not if... we get promoted this year does anyone know what sort of expenditure we'll make on the team??? Norwich took a big gamble replacing a lot of their squad this year at the start of the season and have shown what can be done

Who do you think we'll replace and who would be your choice to come in.

Personally another centre back to work along side Fonte. Jaidi has been a great servant to the club but not sure if he'll last another season, a bit of pace is needed. I would also suggest a forward with pace. Hopefully the posh won't go up and as much as I hate the guy someone like Craig M Smith would be ideal. I would also give Connelly another contract he is a proven goalscorer.

I like the options we have centre midfield but wide players I feel we may need to strengthen. No doubt Oxlaide C will be off to sit on the bench at a prem club

I really feel if we manage to get a good start to the season (can't believe I'm saying that given it never happens!) then I could see us doing rather well in the championship next year.

One thing is for sure, League One for me has been amazing. I personally think it gave our club the kick up the arse (and we got a decent owner RIP rather than the dark lord)and ever since Nigel took over I don't hear the boo boys like last season when we loose as we had when pardew was manager (admittedly I haven't got to that many games this year at home). The club is more united than I can remember and I hope we can push from here.

It is also refreshing to watch football rather than people diving about every single time someone breathes on them. So league one I thank you for what you have done for our club but it's time to move on........... I HOPE!

    Welcome to the board SBA.

What a great post to start your new life with.

I think I will start by suggesting Jaidi will get another year but will hopefully be used more sparingly as Seaborne (hopefully) proves his worth. Martin will sign a contract and be Jose's understudy for the present and we also have a couple of youngsters who could be pushing for a place.
Agree that a good start is essential if only to provide us with a sound platform for the season.
I have also enjoyed watching us win games and I feel that we have increased our fanbase on the back of that simple fact. Like you I am happy to see us progress and am looking forward to next season with whetted appetite.

I echo the greeting from SFC4bag to you.....Saintsbornagain.......Welcome to our board. We all look forward to your contribution. If you have any problems or questions please feel free to PM either myself or Kingslandsfc. We will do our utmost to help.
To be honest I think most are a little reluctant to actually seriously discuss possible replacements/purchases until it is possible to actually confirm our promotion. I think a lot will depend on who stays or goes at the end of this campaign during the coming transfer window. I think you will possibly get more discussion on the players who the fans actually want to stay at the moment. Although there has been talk of places on the pitch that needs strengthening. Anyway good thread to start your era on not606. <applause>

Welcome SBA - for future reference please don't call that rat Lowe the Dark Lord - it sends a shiver down my spin and I don't want to be associated with him that closely!

For next years Championship challenge(fingers & toes crossed), I would like to see about half a dozen Prem/Champ experienced players brought in to help our younger players develop in what is a really tough league

Beddytare fair enough on the shout about discussing players maybe jumping the gun slightly although I think it may start tomorrow evening after Plymouth. I know people are saying they are fighting for their lives but they are where they are for a reason and it would only take a goal to completely change the attitude of their players and fans, something atm we are more than capable of doing!

I hope to god we finish this tomorrow otherwise last game of the season is going to be too much for me to take.

Oh and apologies Dark Lord I shall refer to him as the artist previously known as the Dark Lord from now on!

Welcome Saintsbornagain. This is a nice site and we can always do with more contributors. Especially useful as you can post throughout night, instead of just when BBC see fit. Will be interesting to see if NC flashes the cash. He has laid out some money to make us a very good League 1 side and most of the team would survive in Championship. Agree that Jaidi whould get another season, but we will probably play Seabourne more. Therefore we'll need another back-up player. Connolly (if fit) gives us anothet striker option. I'm sure Nicola will let Nigel have some money (which he didn't get with Scunthorpe) but probably not enough to satisfy the rapacity of us fans! Don't expect big has-been stars though as Nigel is building a team. He is able to get the most out of players and I'm sure he won't want any big I-ams (for some reason the name Puncheon comes to mind!). Let's get there first, then have a nice summer of dreaming.

I know what you mean about Puncheon like players, we defo don't want another one. Ironically he was on the bench yesterday again for blackpool (has been last 3 games and not played last 2). Do you think Holloway has realised he's not all he should be. He wil be sold not doubt end of the season. My hope is Pardew buys him for Newcastle and we get good money for the lad.
Puncheon promised so much at the start yet suddenly thinks he is bigger than the club and goes off the boil. Did for us, on loan at Millwall and poss now at blackpool. Just needs to grow up and put some graft in and could be a hell of a player. As it happens he's just a ball hogging numpty who doesn't realise it's about the club he plays for and not all about him

My main hope is that we can keep Oxo and see him flourish and blossom into an even better player whilst with us. That would be a massive plus for our club and would mean one less player needing to be replaced.

I would love to see Oxo stay but kind of think his head has been majorly turned and it's gonna be a matter of how much we can get for him. I would be happy to be proved wrong as you say one less to replace.

If Oxo has to go, then we can use that money to strengthen the team without dipping into the cash reserves too much (would expect £5m down payment + add on in the future) - I would like to see us look at the duo from Peterborough - Mickail-Smith & Boyd for a starter

Welcome to the boards matey <cheers>

Excellent post to kickstart your not606 life <ok>

Like you said, IF, promotion is gained:
Jaidi has done well but age is catching up with him and a new CB is desperately needed. Would be nice to see someone similar to Fonte. I remember Aaron Davies was excellent a few years back when he joined <ok>

Another striker too, as I doubt Connolly will still be here however, given his recent form I would offer a pay-as-you-play deal.
Mackail-Smith is a no for me. He had a chance last year in the Championship and didn't take it so would prefer to start buying players with Prem experience or that can adpat to the top level <ok>

I think Connolly is a nailed on if he keeps his fitness. Radhi does appear to tire in games now so he could be back up.

Connolly should get another year, he's worth it as long as he stays fit and seems to be fit as a fiddle at the moment. I really don't know who I'd like to see brought in, but would be interested to see how much Cortese has earmarked for transfers/wages as that decides where in the marketplace we can be looking.

I don't know if we will keep Stephens as he hasn't really stamped his mark on any game as of yet. N'Guessan might as well go now for what he has done.

The one thing that worries me is the number of bookings our midfield players receive. I still think we might need a good strong player either as back-up with future prospects or to replace the likes of Hammond or Morgan or even Chappers.
