With our beloved Pompey on course to finish in their lowest league position ever (currently 7th in Fourth Division 1979) where in the table do you think we will finish the season?
Welcome back devo Good to see you back on the site after a two month absence. Mid-table finish would be nice, but anywhere above the bottom two would be acceptable, as long as we remain in the Football League.
I think we'll stay up, but with so few games to go now, we won't improve enough to go above mid table.
Right now, I'd settle for 22nd and see this season over with! We have a horrible run of games coming up...
Well, results went our way today. Torquay look down and out, Northampton have improved a bit but are still 6 points behind us, Mansfield are below us on GD and have played a game more, Wycombe will probably get out of trouble and Accrington, I'll refrain from the usual caprice and say, I do know who you are, but I couldn't care less for milk any more, than their manager cares for the Accrington Beer festival.
If you're pessimistic, you're less likely to be disappointed. Portsmouth being non-league would be so bizarre. It wouldn't feel right. And what if we get relegated again and end up playing Farnborough? Who do I support then?
Few teams in free fall and we have plenty of winnable games.i think 48-50 points will be more than is needed this season can see us around 17th
I think we'll finish in the lower-mid-table section. Clear of the relegation zone but not much higher, around where we are now between 17th and 20th.
Well after tonight I don't think we need to worry too much. A very fine performance, with a bit of luck we could have nicked it, the talk after the game in the studio was of us having an outside shot at the playoffs, which I think is pretty unlikely. Paul Cook was very gracious about us in his post game comments too.
anything above 23rd will do me, like most I have this season as the start of the beginning, time for rebuilding and with the right people and mentality we can have a great club
Like most of us (I think) I grossly underestimated the situation prior to the season, what with the euphoria of the PST finally taking control. While I didn't take promotion for granted, I did expect us to be play off contenders. The reality is of course very different. A couple of good or bad results could have an enormous affect on our final position. If you look at the current table you will see only eight points separating Hartlepool in 9th and Accrington in 22nd. It would be nice to see Pompey's name when viewing the top half rather than the bottom. 12th will do; I'm not being greedy!
Really hard to call due to the spread of points seperating 9th - 21st - so I'll go for 15th I think....but staying up will do just fine. Next season we will hopefully be more ready for what League 2 is all about and get a few more players in with more knowledge of this level.....lets not lose sight of where we were before the PST - we do have a club and we are in existence.
Amen to that - I can say that even though I support the team up the road but I was born in Portsmouth hence my contribution to your forum......
Ditto. Let's not forget that, if the PST hadn't gained control, we would be supporting "AFC Pompey" in the Southern League!
