1st went there in 77, I used to love the evening k.o´s. 1st time I was in the kop & LC scored... **** me did I get shoved around from pillar to post. I remember the late 80´s & the 90´s more, but I loved the place. Sad to see it go but we needed to move & there are only plus points about playing at the KP so... We still have pictures, videos & that model in the club shop.
Dad took me for the first time on my 7th birthday,12th December 1964, lost 0-1 to Sunderland. Then went to pretty much every home match until we moved from Filbert St. Remember getting locked out of a cup replay Vs Rotherham, had to wait outside until the gates opened to let fans out at the end before I could get in. Got my head kicked in for the first time when we played Liverpool at FS in the charity shield and Steve Whitworth scored the winner right at the end of the match. As me and my mate left the Liverpool fans were just coming in to the Leicester end and we got a right kicking - had the imprint of a Doc Martin boot on my forehead for days. Was a good tale to tell at School!
My first game 1969/70 season ... was 10 - beat Brum 3-1 and Rodney Fern scored a bicycle kick - was at the Charity Shield match. Fondest memory of Jimmy Bloomfield was him presenting me with my second footballing trophy - summer of 1971 I think ... was 11 ... there was a huge football tournament for kids over the summer hols based at Victoria and Western parks - winners from group games at the parks went on to play the finals at Saffron Lane Sports Stadium one evening - we won our age group! Vicky Wombles!!! ... we had to walk up to the Executive box up steps from the pitch to get the cup and medals from Jimmy ... was just like the old Wembley! ... another great memory of that was that you got one training session with a City player whilst at the park sessions - we had Mike Stringfellow ... forever one of my heroes....
My Aunt took me to my first game, wasn't until the 80's but we beat Forest, a great memory. Beat Direby my second visit...
