without any shadow of a doubt fikru teferra lemessa 25 y/o, a trialist striker from ethiopia came on as a sub lastnight against leyton orient under the name of dylan ford a youth player.
obviously recommended by one iffy onoura who has been along to the last couple of games with hess...maybe a few more african players to come on trial with iffy's help?

looked good, pace and strength...could of put a couple of chances away for us!...for a first game though...alright!

have heard talk of paul benson or cody mcdonald being of interest to gillingham...don't know if anyone has any positive talk of any of this or not???
would be a perfect start to the season if so, really don't see it though with what the club have invested in the team already!
also nice to see paolo gazzaniga has signed for two years...welcome & good luck gazza!!!:smiley-finger007:

    UTG!!!

if this is true its a good spot cos i thought a the guy looked rather old to be a youth team player and b dylan ford (after some research) is a midfielder and still quite young by all accounts.

not heard about the benson link or seen anything to make me think the cody link is anything more than a wind up atm, but please prove me wrong.

glad gazza has signed promising youngster who will push hawkes to become better and was decidely unimpressed with willy last night, caught the ball well but his kicking was very questionable

Agreed - It was Fikru Teferra Lemessa. Just checked his stats on Wikipedia and all looks pretty poor. Wasn't too impressed on Tuesday either. He missed two good chances and didn't seem to have much of a first touch.

I'd rather have Saladin Seid or Oumud Ukri or Shimeles Gedo .Saladin scored both goals when they drew 2-2 against Nigeria. He is young too 23-24.He was linked with a move to partizan belgrade but the move fell through.Although he could easily play in the league 1 or championship.Oumud ukri is a strong lad predominantly left footed ,quick ,scores goals he could be a bargin imo .Shimeles is a tricky rw uses his pace to beat a man, takes good free kicks and very good on one v one.(shimeles & Oumud would be very nice .)

You seem to be quite knowledgable samsam. Do you follow Ethiopian football in detail?

Obviously Iffy thought this lad was good, otherwise why would he have told Hess about him?

@gillingham lad not in detail but saw the lads play in the cecafa cup in tanzania some months back & were suprised by them players ( Oumud ukri & shimeles ).They have got the talent alright. When Iffy was the manager then he selected those players almost every time & has shown faith in them then.Maybe they can come on trial here in the future.
