U20 World cup has started and at least (there may be some more) Liverpool players are featuring.

Connor Coady is captaining England and Flanno joins him in the squad.

Suso is representing Spain and played yesterday in their 4-1 demolition of the USA. Think he got an assist in there aswell.

Nice to see some football over the summer and even better when Liverpool players are involved.

Dont know if any of the games are being shown, but the website seems to be showing highlights of the games.

There were the highlights of the Spain game on YouTube last night - showed Suso having a couple of efforts from outside the box, one curling just wide and the keeper making a good save from the other. No idea how he played the rest of the game but good that he is getting some more experience in preparation for next season.

    Suso had a good game.

Deulofeu is their star though. Jese is pretty good too.

THey were up 3-0 at half and it was a bit flattering, it was more our mistakes/their individual brilliance than the usual Spain domination. Second half was a bit closer. We (US) missed a few easy chances early on as well that could have turned the game. Ah well.

To be fair, I always like to see Suso do well, bu wouldnt mind seeing someone give spain a beating at any level...lol

Think my 'demolition' comment in the original post was probably a little unfair and most likely inaccurate as i didnt see the whole game.

There was a point in the first half, last 15 or so it got a bit ugly, The US had a few chances to draw level and then deluflu(sp) and Jese put the nail in the coffin and heads dropped.

Anyone else notice this team has the hand me down jerseys as most of them barely fit the players? lol.

EDIT: Pelosi is supposed to be in the squad but due to recovering from the leg break he is not. He is MASSIVE in the middle for this team, really the drive behind the team.

Real shame about Pelosi back in February, I hope he is on his way back and can have an influence for the U21s next season. He has always looked a very good young player to me.

Would have been good to see him playing this summer.

I see Villyan Bijev has quit playing for the states and has started playing for Bulgaria instead?

When you are playing professional, signed by LFC, playing in German second divison ( I think?) and STILL can't get a call up over guys who are in the MLS, something is wrong. In our youth system we still love to have the local home guys even though we have players like Marc, Like Bijev, etc playing abroad.

Players like Flannagan in the squad and you wonder why England routinely fail internationally.

To be fair, Flanno has good experience considering he is playing in an U20 tournament. His last performance for Liverpool was not the best, but he is young and is a player who always gives 100%.

You cant fault a player who gives 100%.

Conor Coady scored as England drew 2-2 against Iraq.

Iraq got a 93rd minute equalizer

Loan move to Swansea or Southampton would be perfect. Also worth noting that Suso is captain, that'll be a great boost for him.

How did we draw 2-2 with Iraq?! <doh>

As a nation we really do suck at playing football <laugh>

  19. Didn't Pacheco rip the u20's apart too? Not sure if he ever made captain but is was definitely the hottest property around at one point. We need to manage the young players better than we did Dani <ok>
