Here are the nominees in the link, and for those that don't know the winner is Miroslav Stoch, the only contribution from the PL is Hatem Ben Arfa's mazy run for Newcastle. Just click on the names to view the videos...enjoy! http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/nov/14/hatem-ben-arfa-puskas-award There are some good goals there, but I think Papiss Cisse's strike v Chelsea is worth a mention... as is Crouchie's volley v City. Do you agree with the winner? if not, which goal sticks in your mind for the last year?
(to keep people on the thread ) They are all absolutely stunning. I'm particularly fond of the Agyemang Goal at 0.45-0.50 secs. But my fav is the Hassli Goal @ 1.22. The technique required for that is amazing. To keep the ball down as well as get the correct weighting and slice on it to go into that corner, is unbelievable! Tonnes of great strikes last year in the premier league, but I think you've mentioned the two best Notso, as well as be arfa's being up there too. As a spurs fan, the Bale strike v's city from the outside of the box was a peach.
Talking of female footballers, which club will be the first to sign a female footballer as a PR stunt? worth a punt when you consider a man with a ponytail cost 35 million.
Given the reaction to it at the time, I thought Ibrahimovic's goal for Sweden v England would have got a mention.
Perugia did that ten years ago. In a lot of ways, Perugia have been trailblazers in modern football, as they were the first club to really capitalise on the Japanese market when they signed Hidetoshi Nakata in 1998 (although, unlike Junichi Inamoto or Kazuyuki Toda, he actually played - and played well), as well as signing the son of a known dictator in Al-Saadi Gaddafi...although Man Utd did beat them to that record, albeit the son of that particular dictator came through their youth team.
Love that Hassli one too. Which one was the Stoch one, I seem to have missed it somehow? Don't know how Ben Arfa's straight run is in there ahead of Cisse's(that won goal of the season didn't it?). Messi's is unspectacular too, I don't think we should be patronised by them putting one of his in there for the sake of it.
Good point. I don't care if the 'keeper's off his line, he could be sitting on a stool at the bar for all I care, that was a Hell of a strike. Maybe friendlies don't count under FIFA, or something?
Whenever i see a woman do anything good on a football pitch it always make me think 'why didnt i ****ing try harder!'
It always makes me think "And still nobody will recognise you on the street." A fact that clearly hasn't sunk in with the majority of Team GB athletes...
Deserves to be there, but could she do that on a cold/wet monday evening in stoke? if so, lets sign her up!
there are many things in this world that i believe are exclusive to the qualities of men and exclusive to the qualities of women. in the kitchen they should return.
You're right, they don't. Here's the winner incase you still haven't seen it...
Boss, what has happened to your rep power? you've been shafted in the last 24 hours! in a way it reminds me of bentley's against almunia. - both keepers should have done better. - very weak hand's in both instances. - still, good goals and nothing can be taken away from either strike. the stoch one is @ 1.45ish. - he's the guy who slides on his knees after he's scored, by the corner flag. Hard to spot it's him though. - one of those annoying euopean kits where the players name is underneath the shirt number.
Ah right, no wonder I missed it, it's not one that particularly stand out in my opinion. If you catch that volley well you've got a good chance of it going in and he could have hit it either side of the keeper and given himself a great chance of scoring. What made Cisse's goal so brilliant is that he had no right to shoot from there and the contact he got on it was much more difficult than all of them except(arguably) the bicycle kick. He left the keeper for dead with a first time strike when a shot wasn't really on.
I've Joined Notso, HIAG, HBIC and many others on commenting on the mouser thread! Don't worry, I can sleep easy at night knowing I don't have green boxes and now have red boxes!
